Why does a chat violation result in a full EA account suspension?

I understand that inappropriate language should be moderated and that players should be held accountable for breaking the rules.

My concern is not that I received a punishment. My concern is the scale of the punishment compared to the offense.

A single chat violation in Battlefield 6 resulted in a 7-day suspension applied to my entire EA account.

This meant losing access to online features, social features, and time on paid Battlefield Pro Season 3 content.

What concerns me most is EA's communication regarding suspensions.

EA states that suspended players can still play many EA games offline in single-player mode. The EA App also states that players can still play their purchased games.

However, Battlefield 6 requires a connection to EA Online Services before the player can even reach the menu where Single Player can be selected.

As a result, the game becomes completely inaccessible despite being a purchased game with single-player content.

I also appealed the suspension multiple times, but received near-identical responses that did not address the loss of paid content, the account-wide impact of the suspension, or the contradiction between EA's messaging and the actual behavior of the game.

This raises a simple question:

Why are chat violations punished with full account-wide suspensions instead of warnings, chat restrictions, or communication bans?

Do other players believe the current system is proportionate, or should EA reconsider how these penalties are applied?

Ruxem absolutely I left that part out by mistake but yes if you being racist or a cists of any sort then you deserve the suspense and then a ban if you repeat the chats their for communication but it's abused and most of the time people will bait you to say things just to report you and laugh so it's best to follow the golden rule and treat others the way you want them to treat you

You shouldn't be calling people racial slurs regardless of a game's rating.

The swear filter for words like f**k etc should go tho.

JennyB_010  I fully agree the games for adults but the problem is that EA has a vast spectrum of rated games and and only one terms of use agreement for their broad scale of games so the same rules apply for battlefield that apply for a sports game that little kids play so the automated system just does it to everyone instead of filtering the game by what it's rated but I do agree with venom they could and should def just take away your communications first

I think that is a fair point.

I can understand why certain types of behavior receive stronger penalties than others, and I agree that not every violation should be treated the same.

What concerns me is that there seems to be very little room between a chat violation and an account-wide suspension. A warning, chat restriction, or a more gradual escalation system would make more sense to me, especially for first-time offenses.

Your point about automated moderation is also interesting. If the system can misinterpret context or even simple mistakes, then it becomes even more important that there is a transparent and meaningful review process before account-wide penalties are applied.

I understand your point, and I'm not really trying to debate whether people should be offended or not.

My concern is more about the punishment itself.

A chat violation resulted in a full EA account suspension, which affected access to online services, paid seasonal content, and even a game that EA states should still be playable.

Whether people agree or disagree with the moderation decision, I think it's reasonable to ask whether an account-wide suspension is the most appropriate response compared to alternatives such as warnings, chat restrictions, or communication bans.

That's the discussion I'm hoping to have.

I think it should depend on what you say.

If you call someone a "dips**t" then it should probably just be a slap on a wrist, maybe a few days chat ban if you keep doing it after being warned.

If you're a racist, etc. then I think it's funny and they don't deserve to play games.

The biggest issue is that the AI moderator is insanely broken. You can get banned for typos (happened to me) and I had a permanent ban from another case which I thankfully managed to appeal and get my account back since the AI thought I was calling for violence.

  • I thought this game was for ADULTS?

So are Adults now offended by hurty words ?
