Audio drops out shortly after launching game

My game is no longer playable after updating the game to version 1.1.3.5 on Steam. Upon launching the game, everything behaves normally for 1-2 minutes, but then the audio completely drops out. This bug effectively mutes all audio running in and out of my PC. This includes other apps that are not BF6. The audio meters in Windows will show signal as if audio is still present, but nothing actually passes through to my speakers, or comes in through my microphone. When I quit the game, my audio is immediately restored.

I've tried updating/reinstalling audio and video drivers, reinstalling the game, tweaking every audio related setting in-game and in Windows; sample rate, bit depth, Windows exclusive mode. Nothing seems to fix this bug.

I've put 200 hours into this game with no issues at all. I'd like to be able to play again.

System specs:

Motherboard: ASUS TUF X570-PRO (WiFi)

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x

RAM: G Skill Flare X 32Gb DDR4 3200

GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080

Audio: RME HDSPe MADI PCIe (Running 96k/24-bit)

  • Hello everyone,

A fix for this issue was published yesterday. Could you check if your audio now works within the game?

Update - The exact same audio issue has suddenly returned today. I made no system changes, and I was able to play the game with no issues yesterday. I am starting to think this has to something to do with EA AntiCheat.

  • Hello there,

Same problem here ! I'm using a Rme HDSPe Raydat on Win 11. So sad...

I guess we will have no other choice then asking for help at RME. I will open a ticket this weekend. Maybe you can too?!

    Best regards

In reality, there is little to no chance that RME is going to dedicate engineering resources to fix a compatibility issue with a handful of games. This should be on EA, considering these drivers previously worked without issues. You break it, you fix it.

EA AntiCheat is also disconnecting Dialup Connections and unloading drivers.

AntiCheat on kernel level is beyond stupid.

Im not expecting RME to fix this issue and they wont dedicate engineering resources on this matter for sure. But with RME we have a good chance, that they will approach EA on this, even though gaming is not their market.
I dont see another way. EA wont fix this issue themselves, no matter how much this topic is reported/discussed here by us unfortunately.

But yeah... if no solution can be found its bye bye for me to EA/BF for good. 😑
