BF6 Unplayable - Random Crashes, freezing, BSOD

I've been playing BF6 through the beta and since it's launch with 191 hrs through steam with no issues.  Game ran perfectly fine and I've been enjoying it.  On Oct 23rd I bought Powerwash Sim 2, but the game would randomly crash.  Shortly after, several other games began crashing randomly.  BF6 was spared, and I was able continue playing without issue as I ran through a multitude of attempted fixes for the other games.

After rolling back drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling games on different disc drives, using DDU to clean reinstall drivers, turning off and on the xmp profile.  I even deleted and reinstalled EA Anti-Cheat since it caused a BSOD even though I wasn't playing BF6 at the time?? But I finally landed on a resolution.  Deleting the Directx Shader Cache.  Now all the other games run perfectly fine.  Through all of this, BF6's performance over nearly a week of attempting fixes for the other games did not waiver.  The same night I finally landed on the resolution BF6 continued to perform perfectly fine.  The next night it crashed once on launch (directx error), but then ran fine for a couple matches. The next day it's completely unplayable, and it's been that way for the past 3 days.

Every 'fix' I find just causes a different issue to start.  BF6 crashes from Directx Error, I run the fixes for that. BF6 causes BSOD a minute or two into a match (irql_not_less_or_equal kernel issue). I run the fixes for that. BF6 freezes mid match, I can still look around but the game is completely frozen. I run the fixes for that. BF6 crashes again, and when I try to verify the integrity of the game on steam, it says 3 files are corrupted and will be replaced. I run the fixes for that. BF6 Directx Error again.  Just a minute ago it caused another BSOD, but not the same as before. Application Error: The instruction at 0x0000000145067C22 referenced memory at 0x0000000000000025. The memory could not be read. and my pc started to self-restart.

Intel Core i7-13700k @ 3.4GHz, 32gb of Ram, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070

I've uninstalled and reinstalled BF6 and Anticheat. I've repaired them, I've ensured my PC has no corrupted files itself, I've run MemTest86 for 8 passes and no Errors. I've tried every fix I could find online and while each one seems to resolve it's own specific issue, a different issue pops up.  I feel like I'm going insane.  Every other game, including the ones that had been crashing before, run perfectly fine. BF6 is the ONLY game with issues now.

  • I uninstalled and reinstalled Anti-cheat and the game seems stable again.  No other games run into any issues.  I'll be skeptically optimistic that things will work out now.  For anyone else running into similar issues here's what seemed to fix things or, at least, make them temporarily better

    1. BIOS update

    2. Uninstall/Reinstall EA Anticheat

Mortikie it looks like the motherboard BIOS has never been updated. There's high voltage issues with 13th gen and 14 gen Intel processors. Eventually the processors can become damaged over time which leads to instability and crashes.

Motherboard manufacturer have been releasing BIOS updates which reduce the voltage to the CPU in an attempt to fix the issue. Since the motherboard BIOS hasn't been updated perhaps your Intel 13th gen CPU is starting to show signs of damage and instability. Unfortunately once the processor is damaged, BIOS updates no longer help. They can't reverse the damage.

Intel has extended the warranty to 5 years on 13th gen and 14 gen CPU.

    https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/intel-releases-extended-warranty-details-for-13th-and-14th-gen-chips-list-includes-core-i5-i7-and-i9-processors

I don't know if your CPU is damaged or not, but I wanted to being this to your attention if you keep experiencing crashing and instability issues.

Since it's a pre built PC by Corsair, you'll probably have to go through Corsair for a replacement CPU if one is needed.

If I don't reply to your post then personal message me. Sometimes the forum fails to notify me when someone replies.

Woops! Don't know how I overlooked that but it's all updated now.  I can't imagine the CPU is damaged if BF6 is the ONLY time the pc has any issues.  Other games and programs work fine so... fingers crossed?

I'll give the game a shot with the BIOS updated and maybe that was the secret all along?

  • Try this: Go into BIOS Advanced Mode > AI Tweaker > Internal CPU Power Management and set CPU Spread Spectrum to Disabled. After changing this setting, I was able to play for three days straight without any errors. Hopefully it helps!

I already updated my BIOS and even went back from Windows 11 to Windows 10... Every high end game I play is working properly and very smooth might I add.. Even Battlefield 6 is running smooth, but the random crashes to desktop or even reboot of my entire system is still an issue. I am able to play full matches very smoothly, but sooner or later whether in a match or not I eventually have this game crash on me. It's very irritating and it's almost a crime that nobody at EA can give a straight answer, or even come up with a proper solution.

I updated BIOS and uninstall/reinstalled the game.

Got to play 3 full matches with no issues and then loaded into a 4th and it just crashed.  Now it can't even launch the game without crashing with this error

Repaired anticheat and the issue persists.  Oddly enough, crash synced up with a friend calling on Discord so we could play together.  Issue persists even with no calls on discord.  Feels like BF6 just realized I was about to have fun again 🙄 Testing other games to see if they're starting to experience errors.
