EA linked to STEAM

So I purchased battlefield 6 Back in October 6th and of course EA is the maker of battlefield 6 and I have all my games on steam so I wanted to have them in all one location.

I'm trying to see what EA account is associated my STEAM account.  I found something very strange and I'm hoping you guys can figure this out.

Why is my EA battlefield 6 game on steam associated with an EA account of my daughter who has never got on my PC before, that I know of.  I was thinking of un-linking her account but was told i would loose everything game progress wise.   Now in game my name is XXXXX1 but in the community friend link section in game (PC) it has my daughters account name from when she was like 6 playing some EA kids game.

I would really like it to be linked to my EA account.  What can i do?

Transaction ID: XXXXXXX

Payment Method: MasterCard ending with XXXXXXXX

Purchased: Oct 6

Battlefield™ 6 Phantom Edition - $105.99

This should not be the case and is really making me scratch my head.

What can we do about this?..

  • 360BLACKBEARD_TV from my understanding you are correct. You will lose all your multiplayer progress if you link a different EA account to your Steam account.

Also once you link a different EA account to your Steam account, there's a 6 month wait time before you'll be able to link a different EA account to your Steam account again.

It's also only possible to link one Steam account to an EA account. For example, your daughter's EA account is permanently linked to your Steam account and can never be linked to a different Steam account. Once you link an EA account to a Steam account it's a lifetime link and can never be changed to a different Steam account.

I believe all these rules were created to prevent game sharing. In the EA unlink article there's mention about merging two EA accounts, but I'd be worried about it causing game errors with EA login servers.

I've read players say they started having login error after simply changing their EA or Steam name. They can log into EA and Steam, but they started getting EA error codes when launching games. Something to do with digital rights management (DRM) authentication on EA's backend servers getting messed up.
