Game completely broken crashing black screen hard reboot since the June 30th

Yo,

I’m losing my mind here. Ever since the June 30th patch, I’ve been hit with a game breaking bug that only happens in Ranked mode. I’m running an AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT and a Ryzen 7 5700X3D. The June AMD drivers have been unstable for this game, so I rolled back to the January ones, which worked fine before the update.

To work around the patch issues, I dropped all my graphics settings to Low and lowered the resolution to 1080p. Here’s the wild part: I can play casual or normal modes for hours without a single problem no frame drops, no overheating, nothing. But the moment I queue for Ranked, everything falls apart. As soon as we fly into the map, my screen goes black and my PC hard reboots.

My Windows DxDiag log literally says:

DxDiag Previously: Crashed in system information (stage 3)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (16 CPUs), ~3.0GHz

Card name: AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB

Current Monitor: BenQ RD280U 3840 x 2560 (32 bit) (60Hz) (in windows)

I’ve tried every tip out there clearing shader cache, running sfc /scannow and DISM, forcing admin privileges, disabling overlays nothing works. I’ve lost over 600 Ranked points from disconnecting before matches even start, all thanks to what feels like a game side optimization bug.

Teammates who make it in say they’re often in incomplete squads or see other players crash right at the start, usually PC and Xbox folks. Ranked is just unplayable for many of us. Are the devs tracking this specific “loading in” crash on PC? Anyone else experiencing it?

Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. We've seen an issue with AMD drivers recently. Please try a clean uninstall. Use the AMD Cleanup Utility to do this. Reboot and then upgrade your AMD drivers to the latest version. Let me know what happens.

Thanks for the quick reply. Before this update, I was running stable on the January drivers with the underclocking suggested on the forums, and it worked fine for me since the first phase of Season 3. I could play multiple games and modes, including ranked, without issues. After the latest update, that’s no longer the case. I used DDU as usual and tried the June drivers to see if anything changed, but it didn’t, so I removed them again in DDU safe mode and reinstalled the January drivers that had worked for me before. If there are any other stable drivers that have worked for people with a similar setup, I’d be glad to hear about them.

Here are some other suggestions based on your DxDiag:

    1. Do a clean install again of the latest WHQL AMD driver. Use the Cleanup instead of DDU.
    2. Delete the shader cache again. Delete Documents\Battlefield 6\ and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Battlefield6\
    3. Disable every Radeon feature. Anti-Lag, Chill, Boost, Enhanced Sync, Radeon Image Sharpening, Frame Generation and HYPR-RX
    4. Disable EXPO/XMP temporarily

Try playing again and let me know what happens. Thanks!

  • I followed all the suggestions you gave, but now the game crashes after I press continue on the loading screen when starting it up, causing the same kind of hard reboot. I’ve included the new dxdiag file for you to check.

  • I wanted to share an update: I removed the June drivers and installed the May drivers, which fixed the game temporarily. I was able to play for two hours before it crashed again, forcing me to do a hard reboot.

I just restarted the game after yesterday’s crash, but it immediately crashed again, forcing a hard reboot, and I couldn’t play at all.

I've been testing and troubleshooting for a few days due to a WHEA 124 error. I just updated to the 26.5.2 drivers and will keep monitoring and trying.

Currently testing those settings while disabling Steam GPU Acceleration and using the 26.5.2 drivers on a Radeon 7600 XT 16GB.
