Game of the Year Edition ~ Multiplayer Install Error
Dear EA Support Team,
I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment regarding my recent purchase of Battlefield 6: Game of the Year Edition.
Based on my understanding of the edition's description at the time of purchase, I was under the impression that it included access to the full game, similar to the Phantom Edition, along with additional content and exclusive perks, such as weapon skins, cosmetics, and other in-game bonuses. Most importantly, I expected to have full access to multiplayer game modes, including Breakthrough, Conquest, and other core multiplayer features.
Unfortunately, despite purchasing this edition, I am unable to access the multiplayer content that I reasonably expected to be included.
I have already made several attempts to troubleshoot this issue, including:
- Clearing the EA app's cache using the "Clear Cache" option.
- Repairing the game files through the EA app.
- Completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
- Checking the in-game System menu, where the Multiplayer section continues to display "Purchase to Play."
- Attempting to modify the game's installation, only to discover that the option to download or install the base game is locked.
Despite completing these troubleshooting steps, the problem remains unresolved. The game continues to prompt me to install an add-on, and I am unable to access the multiplayer features I believed I had purchased.
What makes this situation particularly frustrating is that I have already invested both money and considerable time attempting to resolve an issue that appears to be related to the game's installation, content entitlement, or purchase recognition.
Furthermore, I am disappointed that the purchase is listed as non-refundable, even though I cannot access the content I expected to receive. I understand that refund policies exist; however, I believe situations involving inaccessible purchased content should be evaluated individually rather than automatically denied.
I genuinely enjoy Battlefield and purchased this edition specifically because I wanted to experience the game to its fullest, including its multiplayer modes and additional content. Instead, I have been left with a product that does not appear to provide the access I expected, despite my efforts to resolve the issue independently.
I am respectfully requesting the following:
- A review of my purchase and account entitlements to confirm which Battlefield 6 content and multiplayer features are included in the edition I purchased.
- A technical investigation into why multiplayer displays "Purchase to Play" and why the base-game installation option is locked.
- Restoration of access to all content included in my purchased edition, without requiring me to purchase the same content again.
- If the issue cannot be resolved, consideration of a full refund or another appropriate resolution.
As a paying customer, I believe it is reasonable to expect that a purchased product will function as advertised and that customers will receive appropriate support when technical or entitlement issues prevent access to paid content.
I hope EA will take this complaint seriously and provide a meaningful resolution rather than directing me to repeat troubleshooting steps that I have already completed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and a satisfactory resolution.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Battlefield Player
Hi there,
From your screenshot, it looks like you purchased the Game of the Year Upgrade rather than the full Game of the Year Edition.
The upgrade only includes the additional GOTY content and does not include the base game. If you don’t already own Battlefield 6 multiplayer, you would need to purchase either the Standard Edition or the full Game of the Year Edition to access multiplayer.
Unfortunately, if the store page states that the upgrade is non-refundable, our support team won’t be able to override that refund policy. I understand this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for, but the upgrade itself won’t grant access to the base game.
