Mortars

Why plan on making them even more inaccurate when they already have trouble hitting with 100 feet of where you're aiming? This already makes the smoke rounds completely useless because they go no where near where your team needs the smoke,

Do you guys even want a sense of realism in the game? I was an 11C for 15 years and these mortars are both extremely inaccurate and very weak. And now youre going to make them even more inaccurate at long range? Keep making them even more useless.

They already take to long to reach their target.

Insanely inaccurate. For example on breakthrough on oilfield, if you're on defense and aiming at objective A you're going to be landing anywhere between the complete backend of their spawn point or far short of A. Its already useless for accuracy so why make it more useless? It's already hard to even counter other mortars with it, its even harder to hit the camping snipers.

Stop giving into cry babies that want things changed just to benefit their poverty, even when I'm trying to take an objective i love having the mortars pounding the ground around me,  it adds to the chaos

Ok so my only question is since its a MOBILE mortar, and its intention now is "shoot and scoot" playstyle then why cant we pick it back up (mobile) and shoot n scoot with it? Its kinda stupid that we start off carrying it but once its down its down.  That's not very mobile

Thanks for the additional feedback. I noted it down. Finding the right balance between realism and gameplay has always been a challenge.

On the point you raised, it can come across as if the change is mainly there because players who prefer to camp and snipe are no longer able to do so for a full round. At the same time, coordinated mortar squads in Breakthrough can create more suppressing fire. That kind of overlapping explosive pressure can make it very difficult for the other team to push onto an objective. It is also worth noting that Battlefield 4's maps were generally larger than those we see in 6, which may be part of the difference in how this plays out.

The team will keep a close eye on this in Season 3 as well and continue making improvements where needed.

The mortar is most effective when used in coordination with your squad, whether that’s through suppressing fire or working alongside Recon players to designate targets.

How? It's already so inaccurate that it takes maybe 5 rounds to zero it in to get even close to what you're intending to hit. Meaning what good does a sniper designating targets do when after the update the odds of hitting the target will be much worse than it is now? And on top of that its going to very limited ammo? Meaning not being able to zero in on a target at all? Its already extremely inaccurate, the mortar rounds are extremely weak where even a direct hit doesn't get a kill. It comes off more like its being changed because people that prefer to camp and snipe aren't able to camp and snipe for the full round cause eventually a lucky mortar hit will get them.  Or more about getting people to just not use it. After the update it will literally have not one thing in common with a real mortar. Normally I wouldn't care about game changes but after losing my left arm in iraq the last shooter game I've been able to play was battlefield 4 cause I can mortar with just my right arm. Meaning now in battlefield 6 I will not be able to play at all because the change is going to make it so I can't contribute to a team in any way.  Bf4 the mortar was way more accurate and could even operate it from across the map,  but they never changed the mortar in that game so I don't understand the reasoning for changing it in a game where players can run faster and get out of the way before it lands,  and mortars in real life are not used for "shoot n shoot", hell were not even able to pick it back up after deploying it in bf6🤷‍♂️

  • Hi, thanks for the feedback. The team has also provided some explanation around this in one of our community updates.

We are continuing to see discussions around the role of the mortar, and we want to reinforce its identity as a teamplay-focused tool. The mortar is most effective when used in coordination with your squad, whether that’s through suppressing fire or working alongside Recon players to designate targets.

Following our latest update with Hunter/ Prey, we made an adjustment to how mortars are resupplied from crates, increasing the resupply time from 10 seconds to 30 seconds to address feedback around frequency of use.

With the launch of Season 3, we’re introducing further adjustments that reinforce this role:

    • Mortar no longer regenerates ammo while an active instance is deployed
    • Accuracy decreases at longer ranges, discouraging long-distance camping

These changes are designed to encourage more active and coordinated gameplay. We will continue to monitor gameplay data and your feedback as these changes roll out, and we already have additional updates planned that build on this direction, with the goal of reinforcing a more mobile, “shoot and scoot” playstyle rather than encouraging static, long-duration use from a single position.
