Potential Solution for EA Javelin Anticheat Error 87 / BF6 Crashing error

So I have added comments to a few other forum threads, but considering I have not seen this solution to this seemingly common problem anywhere else on the forum, I wanted to make a post.

I was specifically having an issue where BF6 was NOT launching properly. It would show me that EA Starting anti cheat splash screen thing, then a black window would open for a second, and close with no error message. Going into my system logs, Javelin Anti Cheat was closing with Error message 87.

I tried all the other fixes I saw online, and basic troubleshooting, including:
Validating the game files
Reinstalling EA Anticheat
Checking Secure boot was on
Messing with windows defender settings
and all that with no success...

However what worked for me was the following:

I have 2 SSDs in my PC,

my C: drive which I have windows, and other basic programs like Discord and Steam installed on. This is also where EA Javelin anticheat is installed for me.

and my D: drive, where I have my steam library, and install my games.

I moved my BF6 game install from my C: Drive to my D: drive, and it immediately fixed my issue, apparently according to an AI autocomplete search I got, Error 87 can be caused by Javelin anticheat trying to run on a program installed on a different drive. Seemingly, this was correct, so I wanted to share my solution. I have NOT tried this with other games, but I suspect this may work for others that use Javelin, such as Apex Legends. 

For context, I have the following system specs:
Windows 11 Pro, fully updated as of 07/07/2026
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950x
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
C: Drive: Samsung SSD 990 PRO 1TB
D: Drive: WD Blue SN570 1TB
Motherboard: MAG X670E Tomahawk Wifi
