RTX 5090 Causing Severe Graphical Glitches? Volumetric Graphics Error
Hi everyone,
I’ve run into a very strange issue that I can’t seem to explain. The game was purchased via Steam.
My setup:
Monitor: Asus OLED 4K / 240 Hz
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
GPU: Asus Astral RTX 5090 OC (Driver 581.57)
Motherboard: Asus X870E E-Gaming WiFi (BIOS 1715)
RAM: Corsair DDR5-6000 MHz (DOCP II enabled)
SSD: Samsung 9100 Pro 4 TB PCIe 5.0
PSU: Corsair ATX 3.1 – 1500 W
Right after launching the game, I was shocked by massive black smoke clouds—at first, I thought my GPU had burned out. However, after testing nine other demanding games on ultra settings, everything ran flawlessly. So the issue seems to be specific to this game.
I’ve tried everything, including formatting and reinstalling the entire OS. It turns out that the “Volumetric Graphics” setting is the source of the graphical glitches.
I can run everything else on Ultra or even Overkill without any issues, but as soon as I set Volumetric Graphics higher than Low, the game becomes unplayable.
After hours of testing, I found a setup that works fairly well:
Resolution: 4K / 240 Hz
FPS Limit: 240 FPS
Preset: Ultra
Volumetric Graphics: Low
DLSS: Balanced + Frame Generation 2×
VSync: Off
With these settings, the game runs smoothly at 240 FPS, and the visual glitches are much less frequent or even invisible on some maps.
It seems like I’m the only one experiencing this issue—I couldn’t find any similar reports on Reddit or other social media platforms. Hopefully, a future driver or game update will fix it. It’s hard to believe that such severe issues can occur on a high-end system—and only in Battlefield.
