Severe/Unplayable Latency & Packet Loss in BF6 Multiplayer (Xbox) - Since Day 1

I am writing to report persistent and severe connectivity issues that have made the multiplayer experience in Battlefield 6  completely unplayable since launch on my Xbox Series X. Since day one, I have been hit by constant rubber-banding, players freezing, and sudden teleporting, which renders every match frustrating. This severe lag is visually confirmed by the constant presence of the ping and packet loss symbols in the corner of my screen.

My gameplay during the BF6 Beta was smooth, stable, and excellent, with no connectivity problems whatsoever. My entire network setup including the same internet service provider, modem, router, and use of 5GHz Wi-Fi is identical to what I used during the Beta. Despite this, the full game is completely broken for me from a network perspective.
I have already performed extensive troubleshooting to try and isolate the problem. I have tested both my regular 5GHz Wi-Fi connection and a direct Ethernet cable connection to the Xbox, and the connectivity issues persist regardless of the method. I have also rebooted my modem, router, and console (including full power cycles) multiple times without success. I have absolutely no issues with latency, packet loss, or rubber-banding in any other online multiplayer game or application on this console or on any other device in my home. The problem is definitively limited to Battlefield 6 on my Xbox.

Hoping the EA team or community members can provide any solution or suggestion.

  • And still to this game my xbox when in game gets latency packet loss. But only on battlefield 6. Every other game is perfect.

  • I have xbox friends having latency issues during large 32 player maps. Hit Reg is an issues due to the latency. We found when switching Xbox graphics settings from Auto (Balance) to Auto (Performance) this helped, but still struggles on servers with heavy activity.  While playing with them, I found  Latency Variation and low FPS message from both server side and client side.  Most common is Latency Variation occurs (Console and PC).  They average pings in most West coast servers of 30 or less and ISP is Xfinity.  Sad part of this, these consoles plays 2042 with no issues, just as we all know, Hit Reg was terrible. Anyone have any suggestions or EA, is this a known issue with your hosted servers?

I am having the same issue. Hard wired Ethernet into my Xbox with speeds north of 150 Mbps consistently. No other issues on any other multiplayer games. One thing that my be different than most is I use starlink for internet (although I live in a populated area). I know you can have slight interruptions from time to time as starlink connection shifts between satellites, but the issues I am having with BF6 are nearly constant and very different than the normal satellite switching brief disruptions. I am rubber banding nearly constantly and the game is as close to unplayable as it could be. I am located in Georgia. I heard the servers are an upgraded type that EA has not used for past battlefield games and that may have some compatibility issues with starlink. I ask that EA look into resolving any of these compatibility issues.

forgot to mention I’m using google dns and also tried cloudfare and same issue.

boots on ground I lag, if I stay still it goes to 0 (all the time the ping itself remains at 40). If I move again it goes up again but I can still kill ppl and doesn’t feel laggy at all. The only thing that seems to be affected is voice chat which ppl tell me I cut out but I can hear them fine!

my internet speed is 100mbps download 100mbps upload

issue isolated to Xbox servers or battlefield for Xbox itself (as mentioned my son in the next room does not have this problem at all!)

Same issue here - Xbox series x

replaced my ISP supplied modem with the Eero Pro 7 (3 pack) just recently. Jumped in to play Battlefield today and constant packet loss - only get packet loss in game / fighting. If I’m dead and looking at the map, it’s fine.

played around with settings (Xbox has static ip) and nothing makes a difference. Thought it was the new Eero Pro 7 routers but my sons PS5 Pro in the next room has NO ISSUES so I know the routers aren’t the problem. Xbox is a wired connection and Ps5 is also wired.

jumped on Call of Duty and played a few games and no packet loss what so ever! Was there any updates to BF6 recently I wonder?

  • Bf6 is crashing my series X constantly. One match is fine. Then next turns off my console completely...... have to hard reset to get it working again. Cant even finish a match after that.... its widespread on PC and XBOX..... absolutely disappointed and i really enjoy this game.  Its ONLY this game.

  • I'm having the same problem on PC, other games all work fine online including other Battlefield titles, and the campaign mode on bf6 is fine, my hardware runs the game no problem, but online it's like im walking in slow motion and it's unplayable with rubber banding and severe lag. No idea what is causing this.
