Unable to play the game since update on 9 Dec.

BF6 was working perfectly well on my PC until the latest update on 9th December. First the menu screen was totally messed up and I was unable to access the majority of game modes. This happened on day one of the update. On day two and three since the update, the game menu has sorted itself out but I am unable to access any game mode, instead receiving the following error message within seconds of clicking on the game mode icon in the menu screen and before clicking on the 'start' icon in the next screen to start the matchmaking process.

error message:

'DirectX function "m_submitFencePlat->GetCompletedValue0"
failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED ("The video card
has been physically removed from the system, or a driver
upgrade for the video card has occurred. "). GPU: "NVIDIA
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti", Driver: 58180.
D:\dev\TnT\Code\Packages\RenderCore2\RenderCore2\dev\so
urce\platform\Dx12\SubmissionManagerDx12.cpp. This error
is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing; try installing
the latest drivers.DeviceRemovedReason:
DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ('The GPU will not respond to
more commands").'

I have Battlefield 6 on Steam. My pc has 11GB NVIDIA GeForce graphics card GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB RAM at speed: 3200MHZ, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz, Windows 11, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I have the latest graphics driver installed and the latest windows updates. I have tried the following to no effect:

  • re-installing the graphics driver
  • removing the graphics card game optimization
  • removing the Nvidia in game overlay
  • checking debug mode in the Nvidia App

This is so disappointing and frustrating having been playing the game with no problems before the update and now unable to access the game.

Please advise what to do to get the game running again.
