Battlefield Battle Royale idea

Battlefield Royale

Free to play

Seperate studio

Big map, modern, destruction, 100-150 players

Team based

Squads 4 players (classes assault, recon, medic, support)

One of each

Everyone just has a pistol

Every class can only loot his class based wepons and gadgets (assault ar weapons, c4, granade) he cant take a sniper. Medic only smg, he can get a defibrilator from a loot or if the team kills another squad and takes their loot. The more gadgets you get the better is for you, you can revive team mates, repair vehicles…

The goals is to be equiped as much as u can and win the game as the best battlefield squad.

What do you think? Would anyone be interested in this kind of battle royale mode?

  • Not personally but I'm not a big fan of battle royale games in general anyway (you're more than welcome to ignore my opinion due to that btw). However, if rumours are to believed the next Battlefield probably will feature BR - if its F2P it might even be somewhat successful this time around.

In regards to your suggestions, the only one I'm iffy about is the class limited weapons. It just doesn't make total sense to me for a gamemode where survival is everything, and you need to use whatever is to hand, to have that kind of limitation. In normal MP then, yes, absolutely.

  • No no, i like different opinions. Im not such a huge battle royale fan either but this idea got into my head and i want to share it. Thats true but with limited weapons you would need to survive as a team and depend on each other cuz of that. I dont like that meta gun stuff that is happening in warzone.

  • @eXchance9 My main objection to a F2P BR is that it's a free cheat testing program with unlimited accounts whereas when you have to purchase the Battlefield game there's a barrier to entry which limits how many test accounts they make. Furthermore with the Premium system there was a second barrier to entry which made DLC servers fair since people are less likely to spend an extra $40-$50 on an account that won't last long.

Regarding BR I'd rather not have it in the next BF title (but it probably will be there chasing those sweet sweet Fortnight bucks) since the majority of the controversial changes in BF5 such as 4 man squads, no commander, attrition, forced animations to include the revive animation, lack of 3D spotting, clown like cosmetics, live service, and so on can be traced directly to having a BR mode. Many of us just want a solid traditional Battlefield title.

Bandwagon Royal... not my gamemode, but to each its own. As long as they invests some of the moneycow earnings back in to the game, it's fine by me. 🤔

  • BR in the BF games in order to succeed needs to be free and independent from the main BF game.

Please DICE do not ever make the regular BF players to go play BR modes to get things that are unlocks or points for the main game (like what happened with BFV and firestorm missions).

and for the love of all that is good in the world, do not make any design decisions that resemble BR in the main game (like it happened with the BFV spotting and attrition)

If you ever run for president. You have my vote. Well put.

I actually really enjoyed Firestorm - with the right amount of support it could have at least lasted much longer.

The asthetic was nice, vehicles and bunkers made sense, it had a story sort of sorts with a shady government feel, and none of the weapons were crazy OP.

F2P scares me a little because of hackers BUT it would attract more regular players as well
