Hello, I have a problem(

Hello. I have the following issue: when I play Battlefield 5 online, during the loading of any map the game starts stuttering a little (like micro-stutters), and it is very noticeable. Even after the map finishes loading and I start playing, there are still slight stutters at the beginning.

The interesting part is that after some time everything becomes normal and smooth.

I had a similar issue in Battlefield 2042, but it was much less noticeable, and now it has completely disappeared.

I also have a video where these stutters are visible on the FPS graph.

Then I searched on the internet, and some people say it happens because of DirectX 12, but in my case it wasn’t even enabled. After that, I read that it might be related to shader loading/compilation.

I also tried switching from HDMI to DisplayPort, but there is no difference, except that on DisplayPort it feels slightly worse. For example, when launching Battlefield 2042, sometimes at the very beginning the top part of the screen flickers a little.

I would appreciate any help, because honestly I have no idea what this could be :)

    One more question:

Would you recommend using DirectX 12? Opinions seem to be quite divided on this.

I just wanted to thank you — I found your forum post where you explained that disabling the "Player Created Content" feature fixes the lag during map loading. The stuttering completely disappeared after I turned it off.

That’s honestly incredible, and what surprised me the most is that this was actually the exact cause of the issue.

    Thank you so much.

The weirdest part is that the FPS stays completely stable, with no drops at all.

I have an RTX 5080, AMD 7 9800X3D, and a Gigabyte M28U monitor connected via HDMI.

In the video, you can see the FPS graph hitching/stuttering.

  • It'd be interesting to see that video recording of the FPS graph, it could help characterize the kind of stutters you're experiencing.

Shaders compilation is indeed present in DX11 as well, it's just not as noticeable as in DX12.
You can figure out if your system is still compiling shaders by keeping an eye on the cache folder; if files are modified or created during the stutters, then something was compiled. If nothing is changing, then the stutters probably have nothing to do with shaders.
The location of the DX11 shaders cache depends on your GPU maker and drivers version. For example with an AMD GPU running recent drivers it should be under %LocalAppData%\AMD\DxCache .

Another common source of stutters is a new issue EA managed to introduce a few months ago and hasn't solved yet.
These stutters are quite different from shaders compilation, they start with a burst of hiccups at a regular interval when you load into the map, then throughout the rest of the round you may get more random stutters, almost always coming in pairs.
Not all players are affected and not all servers have this problem, and EA has gone radio-silence on this, but fortunately members of the community have found a workaround you can find here: https://forums.ea.com/discussions/battlefield-v-en/servers-are-almost-unplayable-lag--stuttering/13223557/replies/13376361
