Attention to Detail Regarding Bands

A few things regarding attention to detail in College Football 25:

Marching Bands in general seem to be not in time when marching

WVU's marching band does not seem to have realistic uniforms (I think this probably isn't an issue specific to WVU but bands in general)

WVU's marching band seems to be in the stands and on the field at the same time (not sure if this is a widespread issue or not)

I get that for many players, these things are probably so minor they don't care, however to me it's somewhat disappointing because the game has been marketed with "attention to detail" as a point.

"We designed College Football 25 with a philosophy that every team is somebody's favorite. So to create a truly authentic and immersive game day experience we gave a little love to every single school in the game."

Disclaimer: I haven't actually purchased or played the game, however, I am interested in doing so.

  • To whom this may concern,

I am so excited College Football 25 will be released this Friday however I am kind of concerned and disappointed with the music in the game. To be more specific some of the music are recycles from old Madden and NCAA games. I was very excited to watch gameplay for Alabama at home but was heartbroken to realize the defensive 3rd and 4th down songs were not in the game as well for other schools. It seems like all the songs are recycled and the only improvement is their fight songs. I'm not sure if more band music will be added on launch day or if its a license issue but please consider this for the millions of people like me who dream to have a very authentic college football game.

    Thank you

  • @Teckit264 I noticed this with Kentucky's band too

The uniform models they're using were retired in 2015. The end of our fight song is incorrect too....
  • @Teckit264 It looks like the bands are a copy and paste from the xbox 360/ps3 generation. Essentially, every band has the same generic uniform. Black pants and team colors top

All the band unis seem to be off. Which is OK, but it seems like at least using school colors would be easy enough. The musicians did a great job playing these songs, given they probably played close to 200 unfamiliar tunes. What I don't understand is why so many songs were re-written. They obviously revised some of the music they were sent. And they weren't necessarily edited for time. One of Auburn's two songs in the game - played on first downs - is take off the fight song (like a lot of schools do) but for someone reason they just re-wrote the ending and made it about 5 seconds longer.

My hope is that there will eventually be mods allowing us to upload our own songs. Then we can play what we want and EA is off the copyright hook.

Given there is less team-specific music in this game than previous games, I'm hoping they have plans to allow customization. It seems like they did build in the ability to play music/sounds in specific situations (scores, 1st down, 3rd down, turnovers, etc), so that might mean we'll eventually be able to upload tunes and assign them to the right occasion.

  • @Teckit264 They completely fumbled my Alma Mater's marching band too. It's such an important part of college football to me (especially because I was in the band lol) that I don't want to purchase the game without it being fixed

I'm really curious about the process. My guess is EA contacts athetics depts., which goes to the AD's or university's Marketing dept., who collects all the school brands. At some point, sheet music has to be sent from the bands, right? So somewhere in there, someone is dropping the ball. I just saw an LSU demo game, where they have 4-5 different songs, complete with crowd chants. Auburn has two, and one of them doesn't resemble the actual song. I've seen others say EA just rewrote part of their fight song. I don't understand how or why that happens.

    1. "Marching Bands in general seem to be not in time when marching".
    2. "WVU's marching band seems to be in the stands and on the field at the same time".

Both of these items exactly. I haven't played at WVU yet, but Marching Mizzou's pregame marching looks horrible. (I was in Marching Mizzou as an undergraduate, and then did my graduate work at WVU.)

Please make the marching bands march in step!

It's kinda funny how they are all "marching to the beat of their own drum." They are also random in the stands. I know zero about animation, but it seems like it would have been easier to make each person do the exact same thing, AND look more authentic. I wouldn't mind them looking so bad if there was more music in the game.

  • The University of Georgia Redcoat Band plays their 3rd down song ... on their own 3rd down. The Redcoat Band only plays "Choker" (Dies Irae) on the opponent's 3rd down (or other high-stakes situations) to drown out the other team's own play calls, etc. I know this is another one of those things that might not matter to a lot of people, but the Dawgs are definitely a lot of players' favorite team and I can't be the only one who has noticed!

I can understand inaccurate band uniforms, because frankly I'm just happy the bands are included at all, along with accurate fight songs and rally songs. Hearing the 3rd down song the first time I played got me SO hyped and I LOVE that they included that detail! But it's frustrating hearing it when I'm on offense.
