Bracket Coverage Bugs/Issues

Did some testing of the bracket coverages and found some issues. (This is about the plays labeled “bracket”, not manually double teaming a receiver. Bracket plays and manually doubling a receiver switch who has over top and who has underneath responsibilities, so they play differently from each other)

The biggest issue is that coverage shells don’t work properly. Using any shell other than cover 0 will cause one or both of your safeties to align head up on the receiver he is bracketing instead of aligning in a position associated with the shell (this also causes him to play substantially worse). The other safety often lines up as if he were a middle third, even if you select a 2 high shell.

Other issues and bugs:

Bugs:

- Coverage shell alignment (see above)

- Speed outs aren’t covered by either defender in certain shells when using bracket coverage against outside wide receivers (the dbs zone off instead)

- The deep dig hot route gets ignored when using the default alignment. Once again, the dbs just zone off. (I could be misremembering and this is also a shell issue)

Issues:

- On in routes from an outside receiver that break after 10 yards, the db playing inside leverage will often overrun the receiver and give up the inside. So even though he should be hard inside, he winds up playing outside leverage.

- Nickel defenders give up outside leverage on slot receivers too easily. They should play harder outside on out breaking routes like seam flats do in C3 Match.
