[Feedback] Unrealistic Pass Defense

First of all, I want to lead with the fact that I love this game and this series and I look forward to (hopefully) seeing it improve over the years. That said, an issue I’ve always had with any EA football game is the extremely unrealistic pass defense. It really hit me today watching some highlight reels of Justin Jefferson, AJ Brown and Ceedee Lamb. You watch real life football and you rarely ever see DBs or LBs making the insane defensive plays that the AI in this game make on a nearly every-play basis, jumping 10ft in the air, teleporting around receivers with instant reaction time, etc. DBs in the pros (even the good ones) let balls go over their head all the time, they don’t teleport in front of a receiver who has separation, they aren’t all Darrelle Revis or Richard Sherman.

This isn’t a new issue to the series or new to EA Football games in general, but in the future I hope we can see difficulty spikes in the game that aren’t artificial and unrealistic in nature. If anything, bringing QB accuracy down to more realistic levels on harder difficulties would make more sense imo. We can have Heisman difficulty without making FCS Russia’s defensive backfield look like the legion of boom. Don’t know if the devs read these forums, but I can tell the team behind this game cares more than the team who works Madden.

Anyway, just my two cents. Been addicted to this game, it’s just that one thing that really gets on my nerves.

Edit: ALSO what's with the strange behavior when it comes to whistling at the end of the play triggering at random times? Sometimes even before the runner is down but still moving forward? Another issue that needs to be addressed.

  • I just think they need to take the online stats that they should be getting and try to scale their sliders to get more realistic outcomes. That being said I tend to think it's the offense that likely needs a large nerf. The average scoring in college football is 55 points I think? Average passing is certainly below 60% I would think? A lot of games I'm seeing qb's passing at 80%, 500 yards, 60 points per team. I think if you make defense any worse then qb's are gonna need an EXTREME reduction in pass accuracy. Maybe my sample size is too small, I just don't feel defense is out there doing much at all a lot of times. Bad pursuit angles, bad tackling, bad awareness.. on heisman I just go into the game knowing I can only make 1 mistake.. 2 mistakes and it's almost certain I will lose. I start every drive knowing I have to score. Maybe heisman isn't the best example but I shouldn't feel I HAVE to score every time. The punt should be something I feel is useful.

All that being said, I get what you mean, and I've seen a few WILD interceptions.

@RobertGlover666 100% DB's rarely are able to even get a jump off to defend a pass but in the game they have better catch animations than receievrs, yet we were told this would be different than madden has been lmao

I agree with you. If they’d just fix the mobile QB’s ability to RUN BACKWARDS that would solve 40% of the problem.
