Player exploit/abuse in online Road to CFP

I played (and won!) all the way through the game track in the road to CFP and made it to the playoffs. In the CFP I was matched against someone (won't name them because I know that gets flagged) using Alabama I fear was cheating. The experience was terrible as the connection error was popping up frequently and then once reconnected, the lag would speed up and I wouldn't have time to react. In particular, this was happening as the opponent would use hurry up offense every play. (Every single play.) Also they would onside kick every time they had a kickoff. (Every single kickoff.) The way this functioned resulted in my inability to select a defensive play, or more importantly when relevant: the onside recovery formation, so I missed out getting the ball more about 75% of the time. I was unable to find any option of reporting the player or the experience through the actual game so I'm trying to post it here. This is incredibly frustrating since the legit competition online is already stiff, so to make it all the way undefeated to the CFP only to have someone cheating really makes this disheartening.

Summarize your bug Onside kicks are 100% recoverable. I had a player repeat the same onside kick every time against the onside recovery team twice in a game and he recovered twice. The kick goes to an area that there are no hands team player to recover it. In practice mode it is repeatable. This is gamebreaking and kills any online mode. First one: They are able to kick the ball to an area of the field that there are not hands team members in the vicinity of. How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go into practice mode with the kickoff mode. Select onside kick and base onside recovery. Select low kick, aim the arrow as far to the right as possible (if kick is to the left side of the field). Hit the accuracy meter all the way to the right, let the power fill up to a little over halfway to the bottom part of the triangle on the arrow. The kick will go to an area that there are no hands team players to recover it. What do you expect to see? I expect the game to be functional to not allow a 100% or near 100% recoverable onside kick in online play completely killing the competitiveness of the mode.

  • @EA_BarryI am experiencing this problem writ large without any way to control, mitigate, or avoid the kickoff exploit in online play. I am opting not to indulge in the exploit myself, but I'm not sure EA is giving players any other choice. The mechanics of the kickoff in online play are such that players using the kicking team can consistently position the ball where none of the receiving team players can retrieve the ball in a fair, sporting context. The result is frequently either an atrocious starting field position, the other team recovers the ball themselves and regains possession, or the receiving team player picks the ball up with backwards momentum and the play is deemed a safety - giving the kicking team 2 points and also forcing the original receiving team to now give up the ball.

Can something be done about this? This is a pervasive issue that, in my several games played, is an issue being exploited by SEVERAL players - not just one. I fear this is no longer a matter of reporting a user, rather, looking to EA to modify either the available kicking mechanics of the kicking team, or the automatic responsiveness of the receiving team.

  • The kickoff glitch in online play is still being exploited. Kicking teams can place the ball in an area that the receiving team has no control over. The result of the play is frequently bad field positioning, giving the ball away entirely, or committing a safety when your player scoops the ball with backwards momentum. This is not an issue of one player's abuse, but of the community writ large exploiting a mechanic of the game. EA is only encouraging more players to exploit this by not addressing. Please address this, no one should have to see their drive get derailed before it starts.
