Dynasty Is Basically Ruined For Me (List of 9 Problems)

Just finished my first year of a dynasty with USC - I lost the championship to Ohio State which is fine. But I feel... nothing. I don't seek revenge; I barely got into the first week of off-season recruiting before I just turned the game off. Here are a few things that took me out of it constantly:

1) Teams not losing rank despite losing several games. There were several points where I, with USC, was undefeated and ranked within the top five, with Michigan right behind me despite them losing THREE games (including to us, which implies that we were one loss away from them jumping us). They even made it to the playoffs ranked within the top five. When I told a friend about this, he had a similar experience where Georgia made it to this playoffs with a losing record. That's insane.

2) Rankings and CFP rankings consistently made zero sense. They were also confusing. It's hard to explain why, but stuff basically never added up.

3) I've seen this talked about before and I had a similar experience: a few of my defenders had amazing seasons. Bear Alexander won Defensive Player of the Year, Anthony Lucas was also in the top three. I had two defensive backs with multiple pick sixes and other amazing stats, up for awards and everything. Not to mention Zachariah Branch returning a ton of kicks back and scoring like 25 touchdowns total and winning awards. But when the All-Americans were announced... nada. Not one defender was an All-American. Branch was nowhere to be found and Bear Alexander was 2nd-Team All Big Ten. Simply didn't make sense. At all. The Center made it.

4) Remember in the 2000s where they had magazine covers fitted for the news and updates in between weeks of games? It was so cool to get a visual glimpse into what was happening around the country. The ticker stuff feels so lifeless and superficial here. It feels like we're back in the 90s when technology was limited. Not to mention stuff constantly didn't add up (I saw a team ranked #0, as well as a typo, grammatical error, the score saying one thing but the words saying that the other team won...)

5) The announcers constantly got stuff wrong. Every other game he'd say "he has yet to throw a pick" when the QB did indeed throw a pick or even multiple picks. Crazy.

6) No senior bowl or any all-star game after all this time is so lame. It's 2024 and we can't experience what it's like to play with the best. I remember the pro bowl in the early-mid 2000 Madden games. That was 20 f'ing years ago, and yet that's impossible today because... ? What, not enough time? Sure.

7) Amazing Juniors still don't even consider the NFL. In the real world, Bear Alexander not only leaves, but probably goes in the first round too. But nope. He's back for next season. I know the NIL is in place (except it's not in this game, which is fine) and it may incentivize some to come back for another year, but there's no way a big time Junior who won Defensive Player of the Year doesn't even have a conversation about it. This was a thing back in the old NCAA14 and you'd thinking after spending 11 years watching Juniors leave for the NFL that they'd try to reflect that here. Nope.

8) Numbers changing if I change the name of Teambuilder players. And because of the lack of customization, there's literally nothing I can do about it. I've heard that Freshmen come in with wacky numbers, so I can't wait to see that and be helpless. Smh.

Sidenote on Teambuilder: why can't we see the real ratings for the team? No matter how much I alter the player ratings, I'll see the team ratings that reflect the team archetype. How does something like this go untested? It also doesn't change for Dynasty.

9) And lastly, one of the most baffling glitches I've ever encountered. I had four games where one on of my best players would just vanish off the field with no explanation for the first half of the game. They don't appear injured, they're at the top of the depth chart (which I haven't touched at this point), but for some reason they're not on the field. This happened IN ALL THREE PLAYOFF GAMES: Zachariah Branch would just vanish. Can you imagine having one of the best WRs in the country just disappear for a whole half in each playoff game, for no reason? That's crazy. There was one work-around I found: and that was to choose "By Player" when looking for plays - be sure to click the play of the player missing. It made ZB return to the field. However, this also happened with an offensive lineman, in which case I wouldn't know how to fix that. In all cases they returned in the 2nd half.

I have a pretty high tolerance for games at release, and in general. This is the first time I can honestly say that a game is nowhere near complete. Feels like they put all their eggs in the gameplay, which is great to an extent. The recruiting is also dope when it works. The presentation is lovely the vast majority of the time. Everything else about the game feels like it needed another six months minimum.

  • I've experienced much of the same...sooo infuriating, this game.  And to think they postponed it an extra year, can you imagine if they hadn't how much worse it would be?  Lol

In regards to Branch disappearing, my hypothesis would be that it's related to wear and tear. He may not have an official injury on the chart, but he may have enough of one that it yanks him from the game for long periods of time. I have noticed that where my player's ankle turns red on wear and tear and he's out for like a quarter but not on the injury report since it's not an injury taking him out of the whole game or for weeks.

Not a huge fan of Wear and Tear because it basically results in your RB having to sit out half of every game to avoid injury and playing at 80% his actual skill. If you turn it off, your players all turn red on your playcalling screen. It doesn't hurt them, but seeing all that red throws you through an emotional loop :D

And yeah, agreed on the rankings. In mine, a 3-3 OU is currently Top 10 :D

  • @DLeeHawk This should be the exact list of issues to fix with dynasty mode I couldn’t agree with it more I experienced the same exact issues, the mode just feels incomplete and rushed while at the same time it was promoted as such a fleshed out feature with so much depth. My biggest issue has been not editing jersey numbers and honestly if the game had a proper way of assigning jersey numbers by position I would be fine without it, but they have none!! My 2nd season my top recruit a 4 star WR shows up with #45…. I don’t even want to see him on the field in game like that it looks terrible. I hate to say but I have little hope for any of these issues actually getting addressed but hopefully I’m wrong.
  • While I am enjoying the game and pleased with the recruiting layout, here are my issues that are missing that should be part of this game:

    1. No formation subs

This has been common in all the madden versions and was in ncaa14, but is nowhere to be found in this game. I hope they add it for next version since it is something I use a lot with bulking up my goalline formation or put better pass cover linebackers in my nickle and dime packages. Right now you have to set the depth chart and that is it.

    2. Sim is not good

EA needs to go back to the NCAA14 sim options where you have a screen and can choose to sim and watch the action play out. I have not found this in CF25. If I choose to play offense only, it should remain that way if I use sim. right now you have to go back and reselect it if you sim a play. Also, if I choose to only play offense, do not force me to play special teams. Offense only should mean Offense only. Please go back to ncaa14 sim options.

    3. Player weights don't change

Player weights do not change as they advance in their college career. I believe this happens in Madden and did in ncaa14, but it does not in CF25. There should be logic used in changing weights as the players get bigger and stronger through their careers, which is what happens in real life.

    4. Kick meter too fast

I have practiced kicking and punting and have given up trying to play it in the game due to the kick meter (even with a good kicker) being too fast. The meter should not be that fast, even for a below average kicker unless it is a 50+ yard kick in a hostile environment. It is fast even if I am dead center on a 20 yard kick at home against an FCS opponent. That is ridiculous. At the very least, let us go back and choose the classic kick style if we choose. I will not punt or kick in this game unless it is changed.

    5. Head Coach and Coordinators Info lacking and missing once chosen

I do love the new coaching carousel and the ability to hire and fire coordinators, but there needs to be more information on the history of the coordinator (school, off/def national or conference rankings, etc) Were they a fired HC or OC or are they active at a school? Right now you only see pipeline, prestige, coach points, and type of off/def. I would like to see more info. Also, Once you select your coaches, you are limited in what you can do with them. You can't upgrade them on your own I believe. Also, I like to scout how other coaches are doing at other schools. You cannot even see who the HC is at any other school. they all show "VACANT" when you look them up. In NCAA14, you were able to see HCs who were on the hot seat. I would like to see more options in this area since it was a nice addition to this game.

6.Not able to cut/persuade incoming freshmen / transfers

When managing your 85, you should be able to remove any and all incoming players, not just upper classroom already on your roster. In real life, colleges pull schollys all the time, so it should be available in this game. EA could make it a prestige hit if you do it excessively, but it should be available.

    7. Not able to change player numbers

While I understand not being able to change or edit real life players in this game for contract reasons, all computer generated players should be fully editable. EA should be able to put in logic to where we can't add existing/former players names into the game for NIL reasons, but we should be able to edit most info/attributes of computer generated players.
