How do I read an end around?

On all the end around plays that I've found, the backside EDGE is always an unblocked read, but I cannot figure out what the read trigger is. I am familiar with pressing X (PS5) to pull the ball on read option plays, but is there some other trigger or way to react when the EDGE stays wide? Or is the read symbol indicating a pre-snap read in this case? Two example videos attached. Thanks!

  • The end around has certain personnel for that specific formation. When matched up with certain defenses the end is unblocked. Singleback is the most common with blocking issues for end around and jet passes. So find the same concept in a different formation for the blocking assignments you desire
