Why isn’t there more realistic rugby style punts and better punt fakes? The athletes that play punter and kicker today have a lot more speed, acceleration, throw power and accuracy. I’m not saying that every special teams player should have increased ratings in those areas but there definitely are some decent athletes. As far as punt strategy and the rugby style kicks there is a huge gap in the game in regards to that style. There should be a “run kick option” play that allows your punter to carry out a fake like real college punters. The Australian Sam Irwin Hill punter from Arkansas is a prime example of this. You were never fully sure if he would boot it away or take to the house for a 75 yard run. Also there should be “run kick pass options” plays out of the shield punt formation as well.
