C&C remastered not good

C&C is crap to play, You can't select easy army as it goes to medium army as it starts, very frustrating

  • In both Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert, you can select Casual (Easy), Normal and Hard for all the SP campaigns, and you can do the same when setting up a skirmish vs the AI. Casual buffs you, Normal buffs neither you nor the AI and Hard buffs the AI. When you start a new game you can see the difficulty slider at the bottom. It defaults to Normal. But you can change it before you start, and you can do different missions in the campaigns as different difficulties too. I suggest you try it more before you deem it "crap." Also, remember this is a game from 1995. RTS's were different then, and this is a ReMASTER, not a ReMAKE. It's possible old school CnC is not for you, but that does not make it "crap."

  • He can have his opinion. C&C is very old School and by any means: I like to Play the Campaign and hear the remastered Soundtrack with new graphics. But in Terms of MP-Balance this game is not very well designed. Tiberian Dawn works better for me than RA. I had fun back in those days playing with friend under one condition: we dont rush and dont attack each other the first 10-15 Minutes.

Or it will always turn out that the guy who managed to produce quicker mass tanks is Winning. They are fast traveling Units that can squish infantry and they are early available at a relativley cheap Price (regarding their Impact) - so why build anything else? RA has to offer so much more, but after my first experiences in MP i all Comes down to this: Tanks, Tanks, Tanks.

I really enjoy this game much more when all the other options start to unfold and offering you more gameplay variaty. In Campaign missions this feels very different because you start as a weaker Counterpart to the computerplayer and get attacked all the time so you have to fight for your survival and appreciate the wide range of untis you can build. In MP this feeling gets lost somehow.

@CNCJack_TD I don't get the feeling he's talking about MP though. Also, we can't look at games from 1995 and 1996 through the lens of 2020 competitive multiplayer mindsets. It was a very different time.

Even still, I don't understand his complaint. If he's talking about human players, he can't control how well they play. If he's talking about Skirmish vs. AI, he can select their difficulty.

But we all need to stop judging mid 90s gaming with the 2020 competitive online play rulebook. It's unfair.

Personally, I do see his point, but I can say some of the other strategies can work if you're quick enough to use them. A classic engineer rush can be the go to for anyone who's got appropriate backup. Though, I have noticed that it takes more Engineers than it used to.

    @CNCJack_TD
If you want a proper Infantry war, then you can reduce the Tech Level to 3 (as the War Factory is Tech Level 4 I think). There are some maps that are customised to force a different play-style so that it isn't just a Tank Match, but they are not available to the Remastered Version of the game just yet (due to some sort of bug).

This is 2020, but the game hasn't really changed in terms of what units are available in the game. Though, bits of the game do appear different to before.

To say the game is bad, is wrong, to say that EA has done a poor job of the Remaster is more accurate, to which I would agree. I can pull off strategies on the original game that are not viable to the Remastered Version since the game is different.

If you want a more casual game, try the CNCNet releases, not the Remaster. The CNCNet releases offer a wider range of custom maps, and a community that is providing more each day. A lot of these custom maps would allow for a more relaxed game where you can sit around and build a pretty base with walls and defences without being completely smushed by a rush attack.
  • I am with you on this one as far as the difficulty. When I first installed this it ran just like it did when the game first came out years ago. I made a post about this hoping someone could help but o one has answered.

it's just not fun or playable when the computer is set to easy and it sends so many unite at you within 2 minutes of the game that it freezes up the game for a second. I get the MCU, 2 small power plants and 1 ore factory built and I am attacked and demolished. that my friend is NOT fun.

@CCarlson101213Regardless of difficulty the AI will rush you with what it's got if you spend time passively building up. It's either triggered by how much time has elapsed or it's triggered by how many units you've amassed. I do not think it's a bug. The same thing happens in campaign missions.

  • @jros83Hey - its unfair to call it unfair 🙂

To make Things clear: I do not want to lead a "what is better war" against you - which turns out often very personal and unnecessary aggressive. Actually, in my heart, i am with you and understand your protest. RA is what it is. And it is okay to release it like that. It is a journey back to the 90s with new graphics and i enjoy it. However still back on those days i was already a bit curious how this game would play,if you  change several things. So a lot of others shared those thoughts - otherwhise there would not be all those great community Tools, Editors and Mods available today. Tinkering with it is part of the game of RA in my eyes and not an expression of beeing unfair or hateful towards the Original. And of course calling RA crap as the topicposter said is a bit rough -  may be his honest opinion but for sure not appropriate critic considering this is a mid 90s gameclassic.

@ General Zool: For me changing the techlevel does not solve it. I'll play here and then a match RA original. But playing with strangers almost Always turned out as i described above. Id like to have not a limited infantry war but a full scale war with all possibilites without beeing one unit type to be so dominant, that all other alternatives seem to be waste of money - a complicated wish, i understand that. I am already tinkering with the rules.ini and i'll create a few missions around that. The Remastered Editor gave me a really bad start yesterday but lucky me i rememberd some of those weird restrictions of C&C RA that can cause crashes ( i was talking about in another topic with reinforements crashing the game - solved).

Just in case you want to know: Remasterd Editor leaves only 1 block/Cell freespace outside of the visible map area - obviously to maxout the available size for map design. But in missions were you reinforce Units from outside - they need enough space to move/spawn there. 1 Block works finde for infantry and smaller vehicles it seems, but ships like Cruisers or dropships require two rows of freespace  - or game will crash 100% Guranteed.

We really need to ask the devs to put some good "Top 10 Reasons for crashes not working triggers" or something like that into the Editor. Would be a great help for many People.

Ignoring the fact Petroglyph Games did the remaster... 🤨
