Anyone else getting this? I get a challenge battle every 4 matches at least, fine. Last challenge battle was less of a battle and more of a slaughter. But no harm done, just wasted my time and lowered my win/loss. No big deal. Next guy the same level of units... wipes the floor with me even HARDER... but it's not a challenge battle. I'm starting to wonder how generous this system is for identifying challenge battles. I compared the two and the non-challenge battle guy had the exact same level of units, but he had a level 9 rare while the challenge had a level 9 epic... I mean 11 levels over 7 cards over me (his 9's VS my 7's) should be a challenge battle, no question. Think the numbers to decide what is and isn't a challenge battle should be looked at. While rarity of cards does have an impact, a level +2 common will punch you in the gut just as hard as a +2 epic will.

Mine are consistent, 90%+ games are challenge matches, mostly vs player lvl 60 (I’m lvl 31) mostly with unit levels 2-3 lvls higher. I win more than I expect but it seems wrong! Is this where I’ll sit till I complete enough bounties and free crates to be competitive? In diamond 2. Also wondering why the champions blitz is not using the “tournament” rules that even out unit levels, as it appears to be a tournament

Hi @BattaIia, Do you have a screenshot showing the unit levels and player leagues for both the matches? Unit levels should trigger Challenge Battles if the enemy's deck is 1.5 levels or more above on average, although there are some edge cases where this may not happen. Screenshots or replays would help us figure out what happened in that match.

challenge battles are the best! I beat a guy in same situation level 7 vs level 9. I feel that you shuld also get more medals for beating people with higher cards in normal battles as well

Sorry, lost said reports by the time you posted, but I encountered this again. Here are some screen shots. As you can see below, a challenge match that I played against Diesel. Close game, and I nabbed it from him. But just 2 games prior, I played against TheHumble who had level 10's VS my 7's. This was not a challenge match, and I did lose medals. (not really sad about that, but busting my streak just before winning an actual challenge match stings =p ) On a side note, lvl7 rocket squads are helpless against lvl10 choppers... the things they are supposed to be good at xD

The real problem is your "either that or that" challenge battle thing. So, if the guy is 1.5 levels above me in troop levels - it's a challenge battle. However, if I bust my butt off to climb, once I pass that guy in rank even a bit, NOT ONLY it is not a challenge battle anymore with him - I lose 25 medals in an almost impossible match to win (let's be honest, if the guy that is 1.5 levels above you, in average, plays well and makes no mistakes - you have 0 chances, it's just -25 cause you got that guy matched against you and there is 0 counterplay).Whole concept of +15 but -25 is flawed, but this thing with leaderboard position negating difference in strength that removes "challenge battle" from the enemy - is total BS :/

Do you have a screenshot showing the unit levels and player leagues for both the matches?

Unit levels should trigger Challenge Battles if the enemy's deck is 1.5 levels or more above on average, although there are some edge cases where this may not happen. Screenshots or replays would help us figure out what happened in that match.

I've decided to create a new player (TheMule) and to try and play through as a pure F2P and going through the ranks, I do find these matches come around too often in the Gold League.
Yeah, I probably have found myself too far ahead, but the match-making system still needs to be tweaked.
Edit: If it wasn't obvious, the attachment shows that it should have been a challenge match, but it wasn't.

Alright, so the dev's have clarified that there are 2 different challenge battles:

1) The other player has +200 medals on you. This is a challenge battle 100% of the time.

2) The other player has 1.5 average levels on your average levels. HOWEVER: For this to kick in, your entire list including commander must be within 3 levels of the league cap.

Gold cap is 9, so your commander and riflesquad prevented that game from becoming a challenge battle. This is to prevent 2 things:

1) players putting 1 or more level 1 cards in their army to force challenge battles so they always gain extra medals and never lose them

2) players from playing well enough to wedge their account into a situation where every match is against a 3+ player so every game is a challenge battle preventing medal loss.

Kinda confusing, I know. Lemme know if you need any aspects of it clarified.

I am sick of playing all challenge battles. I just played 12 games in a row ALL challenge battles. then 1 game and then 3 more challenge battles. I have decided to not play them and just let the other player get a free win. this is beyond stupid.

What has happened is you wedged your account into a position where all it can give you are challenge battles due to your lower levels but high medal count. This means you can't lose medals to go back down, but you can gain them only furthering your problem. Basically, you played too much, too well, and now the game things you crave the dark souls mode of only challenge battles.
