Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Play Button Greyed Out

For some reason I can't play the game as the play button is not working .  Its greyed out.  I have two other games currently in origin and they are fine.

How can this be fixed so I can enjoy the game?

  •  go into task manager. Your game must still be runnng un one of the files. check each tab for your Command and Conquer Game. find, click end task, then go back into origin and see if it is still greyed out

  • I've just built a new system (Win 8.1 64 bit / i7 cpu) and done a fresh install of everything, and still get this problem.  Can't get past the 'Generals or Generals Zero Hour' screen.

    Is there a way to get in contact with some official support channel?

    This has been a constant problem after ORIGIN updated!!!  I keep reinstalling and works a couple of time, then "grey's out" when I try it again.  Very frustrating.  

  • Had a support chat with EA and ran through a few options (although I wasn't confident as my issue was on a fresh build).  None of the steps helped.  They said there is no 'studio team' for this product anymore, and seemed to suggest there was basically no hope.  They gave me a choice from a limited selection of games as compensation.

    So I guess that's that ☹️

    Anyone had any luck?

    My issue was that I would try to launch Generals but couldn't get past the window that pops up allowing you to select generals or zero hour.  I fixed this by going into the game properties and disabling origin in game for this game.  I noticed while trying to find a fix, that after I had tried to launch the game but failed, the play button was greyed out.  I had to start up the task manager and end a bunch of Generals tasks, restart Origin, then, after disabling the Origin in game, it works fine.  Hopefully this helps.

    That sounds like exactly my problem  man I pray this helps. Vary frustrated with origin atm

    This worked for me.  Thanks a bunch man.  After futiley trying to get ahold of Origin Customer support (put on hold for over an hour before I gave up) (Waited 0ver 30 minutes for online chat before it timed out), I was ready to pull my hair out.  What a discraceful company.  They must have like 3 people working for them.

    Uncheck the Origine enable in Game box. 

    Done and fixed my greyed out play button for C&C Zero Hour!!  My game plays fine now.

    Amishninja42, you sir are amazing!  This worked for me.  Thank you so much.  This company is pathetic!  Even if they have older games that not many people play anymore they shouldn't abandon them.  I wish there was something that can be done about how helpless Origin's customer service is to their customers.  Thanks again!
