Red Alert 2 Launch Problems

I am still having trouble launching Red Alert 2. I have tried doing the recommended fixes and I am still getting the Fatal String Error. Any suggestions?

    This is an issue related to user rights, if I remember correctly. Make sure to run the game as administrator, and if that doesn't help, try reinstalling the game.

    The graphics system patch DDWrapper is known to solve the "black screen" issue for many people.

    Download the zip file and extract "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into your game folder. Then, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, save the file, and the game should work.

    There are tons of solutions around this place. The DDWrapper mentioned above probably resolves that issue too. No use whining at EA though; those handling the tech support here can hardly be held accountable for the management. There's a reason I do tech support here as volunteer; EA simply doesn't have anyone with C&C games expertise in their employ anymore, especially when it comes to the classics.

    I have black screen. They sell damage game, this is a business. They sell air.

    I've bought three games from origin that just dont work. Sent many emails with no response. EA is the king of not caring if their product works just all about getting money then * the customer straight in the *. Very happy that i got Red alert 2 for free or i would be much more upset lol. The game launches but all the colors are messed up and the resolution will not change. oh and a P.S. to all the EA fanboyz out there EA has one of the only CEO's that was quoted saying " we dont make games for fun we make games to make money " .....sad.

    No, it didn't unfortunately it didn't work. I still have a black screen at startup and even after the intro video completes the menu never appears.
