[EA app] Dead Space 3 making me sign in to Origin
I'm having the same issue with Dead Space 3. I purchased and played it with my friend last week with no issue, but now whenever I attempt to load the game, a popup tells me to log in to Origin to activate the game. I don't have an Origin account, and I didn't need one to play last week. I clicked the "Create Account" button, which led to an error where "Origin" thnks I'm not connected to the internet.
I tried clearing the cache (which actually removed Dead Space 3 from my account until I restarted the app, which was weird). I restarted the app. I reinstalled the app. I "repaired" the game files. I tried to find if I ever had an Origin account, but all links to Origin redirect to the EA website talking about the EA app. For all I can tell, the Origin app is dead, and I can't access it. Google said the error I get saying I'm not connected to the internet could be a firewall issue, but I can't grant Origin access through the firewall because the Origin app DOESN'T EXIST...
I really am out of ideas. It's quite frustrating that I can't play a game through the launcher I bought it from because a launcher that doesn't exist anymore is having a temper tantrum.
@az0nnfeohmk9 So I know what that error is and it isn't the game per se. It is the registry and folders with the game installed. Downloading it to a different one writes a different entry in the registry.
What should happen is deleting the license folder should create a new file for the game when launched. However, if the registry has old files, or Windows still has old files somewhere deep in the explorer folders, it will conflict with the game.
Try the following and see if these make a difference.
Uninstall the gameClear EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery) - even though you did already.
Delete EA License Files:
- Make sure the EA app is closed.
- Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
- Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
- Enable View Hidden Files and Folders
- Delete all files in the "License" folder.
Please clear your temp files:
- Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time
- Into the new window, type or copy & paste: "%temp%" (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
- Your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
- (If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)
