Steam Deck isn't able to launch EA app/Dead Space 3

This is in regards to Dead Space 3.

Have previously been able to co-op between my friend on the Steam Deck and myself on a Windows 11 PC. Now within the last few months the EA app is unable to launch on his steam deck. His files are verified on steam, and he tried an earlier version of Proton and Proton Experimental to no avail. I read online and some people have commented that an update to the EA app broke something for Steam Deck users. Would love to be able to continue the co-op :(
