With medium settings and 4K DLSS balanced I can get 65-80 FPS......for a bit. It runs well, and then seemingly randomly, a cutscene will start or an animation will trigger and the framerate entirely collapses into a 20ish stuttery mess and it never recovers. I drag myself to a save point, save the game, exit to the menu and immediately reload the save. Where I was getting that 20ish stuttery mess, It is now back to 65-80 in the exact same spot, until it inevitably collapse again after a while.
+1 for the same issue. Except my framrates go from 60fps+ to 3-7fps. Really a shame because it's destroying any atmosphere when a cutscene is ruined and I have to get to a save point at 3fps to restart my game.

I expected it was VRAM since I sit at 8.8-9.2gb and when the stutters occur (likewise, cutscene, new item, new area) it's usually pusing 9.5gb. I tried lowering my resolution from 4k to 1600p but they still occur but can't tell if frequency has changed. Restarting the game makes it work in the same area just fine.
- 3 years ago@TheCookieButter Yup it's a GPU related problem, you should monitor the power consumption and VRAM load, you'll see huge drops when picking up an important item or playing a cutscene, then it goes back to normal after you interact with a save station.
It usually comes back to normal but not all the time.
Nothing players can do here, all we can do is wait for a fix.- 3 years ago

This has reduced the amount the severe drops happen to about 1 per 2 hours if playing but the traversal stutter is still prevalant. Hope this helps some of you.
When i see it creeping in i just save and take a break!
Edit: Ironic we have some level of end user fix before developer/support acknowledgement of the issue, never mind the thread.
- 3 years ago@wedge909 I tried it and it didn't fix it, it helped smooth the FPS a bit though so I would recommend it.
It isn't ironic that corporations won't invest enough money to patch games we are passionate about, it's just one of the harsh realities of capitalism.
Devs truly are passionate about Dead Space and it shows, I'm sure that they will work to fix this, the problem is EA not wanting to pay for QA and making the end-user the actual tester of bugs, glitches,...
So yeah, we deal with that kind of bull**** because all that matters to them is to save as much money as possible for executives and investors.
