Major problems with installing Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate edition

I am not using Origin to install this game, I bought it as a Direct Download from Amazon. The game gets downloaded from Amazon to my computer, and then I can install it. I go through the process of installing it, and every single time as I go to play it gives me an error message saying there was a problem with the set up and to reinstall the game.

I HAVE REINSTALLED THIS GAME A HALF DOZEN TIMES. IT IS NOT WORKING.

Can someone tell me what on earth is wrong?

I'm playing this on Windows 8.1

I downloaded Origin and installed it with that. After that it started working just fine. Thanks anyway!

Have the same problem, tried the proposed "clean reboot" solution, did not work.

Fair enough, at least you got in. I hope you enjoy the game.

Yes, dl'ed from Amazon.  Set to "always notify", still no go.

Trying to reinstall.  Getting an error: "Use Windows Features ON/off to configure or install Microsoft .Net Framework sp2" or something.  I'm on Windows 10.  Windows Features says .Net framework 3.5 includes .Net 2.0 and 3.0, and all the boxes are checked.  What's this all about?

Hmmm, I can't say I've encountered this recently. Out of interest, was this system upgraded to Windows 10, or was it always a W10 system?

Anyway, on your issue can you go to the Control Panel, then Programs & Features? Click the "turn windows features on or off" button then wait for the list to populate. If  Windows .NET framework is unticked, try ticking it and clicking ok.

If it's already on try toggling it off then on again, and check again.
