Playing with a Mouse+Keyboard vs. controller

Hi all,

I just downloaded DAI and am not used to using the keyboard as much as I am used to just using a mouse with occasional hotkeys.  For someone with less manual dexterity than I used to have, and being used to moving characters with the left mouse key, should I invest in a controller or is that just as awkward for a 51 y.o. "newbie"? I find myself thinking I'm moving my character and I end up moving a camera--I think.

Sorry if this sounds obvious. I just completed Diablo 3 and only used the keyboard for 4-5 things like spells.

Thanks,

Jim

As another 51 year-old I found the controls awkward to begin with, but became much more profficient quite quickly. With m&k you can do a lot more in 'tactical' view, though I suspect that controllers are easier for most people in the action view. I play every combat entirely in tactical view and it's fun. Of course I can't stand controllers, so my advice is not unbiased.

I played with mouse and keyboard at first, then switched to controller finding tactical view very difficult to control. I don't use tactical every combat, but definitely when fighting tougher enemies. What more do you get with mouse and keyboard in tactical view, as I haven't found any differences yet.

I'd like to try handling combat exclusively from tactical view but haven't yet figured out how to operate. Instead I hit the 'T' when the situation is grim and I have to micromanage some rejuvination potion usage and focus a little fire, then resume the game and just manage my inquisitor character.

Would you go into greater detail about how exactly you run a battle from within the tactical view mode? Thanks in advance.
