Re: Cant download and install DLC. "Download Failed".

I'd like to state that while this may be a CD Key issue it's definitely not one with the CD Key missing.  I would like to re-cap my own issue because I'm afraid it's being ignored by both a game advisor I've spoken with and the community support here.

I purchased in 2009 - and still have active on my Bioware/Origin/EA account - the Pre-Ordered through EA Collectors Edition of Dragon Age: Origins.  Between the there and than and the now, I've also purchased all the extra content for the game, and digitally purchased the Dragon Age: Awakening expansion via Origin.  All of this shows up as registered content in my account.  Recently my CD is becoming more and more beat to the point where it installs 45% of the time, meaning it almost always fails on a first go.  So I decidd to go digital.  There was a post on the bioware tech support forums (now closed and effectively defunct I suppose) that claimed I could register my game with the CD Key as digital content if I was missing or had lost the CD.  Awesome, but it didn't work, without a real known reason for.  Fine, I shrugged and purchased the Dragon Age Origins Digital Deluxe Edition via Origin as well.  So I've got the DA:O main game twice, one an original cd, the other via Origin, each with it's own product key, the original being the one that is tied most tightly to my account.  If I needed to un-register that key, no one filled me in on it and there's no real warning of what un-registering would do.   Soooo, I have taken the steps to install after download from Origin, Install Awakening, update via patch, configure for my system and confirm the CD Key of the Digital version is in place for both Main game & expansion.  I play, enter the intro screen and log into my online bioware/origin account.  And all that beautiful DLC which is registered to my account doesn't get past 0%.  I have attempted the DA updater solutions.  There is no mention of the content being unauthorized, simply "Download Failed".

Feeling pretty grumpy about this.  If there is a kind of DRM issue or something, where I cannot save the achievements & such, fine let me know, but I really should be able to switch out the one main game for the other while still keeping my purchased content.  If someone tells me that I not only have to have a totally new account but also purchase all the DLC again INCLUDING the expansion as that's tied to my current account, I am going to freaking flip.

This is being posted on July 3rd at 9:45 so let me end the post better than I feel in regards this particular issue: I'm going to wish everybody a Happy 4th (for the USA'ers anyway 😉 ), and I'll check back in later.  Fallout 3's got a Fat Man waiiting that just screams Patriotic Destruction  :catlol:
