I'm honestly just mad at the whole romance stuff with Lucanis. And can we mention the fact that when you're locked out of a romance with him, that the argument used is that he doesn't have time to romance you anymore because his focus is now 100% on his city, but hey. He still has time to romance Neve, though!
I'm all for companions romancing each other if the protag doesn't, but all of this seriously makes me feel like Lucanis just... Settles for Rook, while he was truly scripted to be with Neve first and foremost. :/ Specially with him being so unresponsive throughout most of his very few romance scenes with Rook. And again, how unfair and hypocritical it is that his romance door is closed for Rook, but not for Neve. The least that should be done is to make romances as organic with the protag (if not more) as they are if companions do get together. This seem to have made many of us feel like a #2 at MacDonald's because #1 was sold out, to be perfectly honest.
I was absolutely devastated when I finished the game. I love the game. I really do, but it's SO sad! Rook is the saddest protagonist of all the franchise and by far. Everybody feel so... Selfish around them. Like it was mentioned in other comments, it's like nobody cares about them, how they feel, what they're going through. Rook never asked to be the leader, but they took the spot because no one else did and someone had to. And yeah, having romanced Lucanis only added to that feeling. Rook is alone and the weight is so, so heavy on their shoulders. With no one to truly support them. Aside from... Well. Their own mind, basically.
