Dragon Age Veilguard PC crash

My DA Veilguard keeps crashing and is practically unplayable. I have tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to work. It took me three seperate tries to get through character creation before my monitor went black and my PC wouldn't turn off. Each time this happens I have to switch it off by the mains because nothing else works.

All drivers are up to date
Windows is fully updated
Antivirus software is operating well
Updated BiOS
Verified integrity of game files
Set game to run as administrator
Reconfigured preferred setting in NVIDIA control panel
Deleted shaders in local files
Soft reboot my PC
Cleared cache and flushed DNS

I am at a loss.

Can you try disabling xmp and seeing if the crashes stop? then it would be a ram issue. Ram always works perfect at stock speeds. This is how you find out.

  • Hey i found something that worked.

the order or the steps are making this work.

1)delete the shader cache file everyone talking about : 2459419382

    2) go to steam and verified the files of da veilguard. Should says : one file is missing. Then proceed to install it.

    3) when the file is downloaded : run the game :)

It works! Thanks! Now let's hope that the game doesn't crash anymore. I'll post an update if it crashes

Still the same problem but now at a different time. Geniunely think this is just a game breaking bug that they haven't acknowledged yet

If you graphic card is by nvidia. Try changing the cache of the shaders to 10 gb or 100 gb.

        Then redo the steps.

        Hope it works.

  • I'm having the exact same issue. Nothing is fixing it for me and it's crashing within the first 20 minutes

I can't even get past the launch. Black window loads, then it goes away and I'm at the EA client again. Windows & Drivers are up to date, ran disk cleanup, antivirus is good...

Each time I've deleted the Shader Cache folder, a window will pop up in the EA client telling me one of my files is corrupted, and urging a repair. The repair restores that folder.

Nope, still getting crashes, I'm honestly at the point where I'd want a refund but I can't even try and get one because I've spent too much time trying to fix the game :(

I was just playing the game and it caused my PC to go full black screen and no signal and forcing me to hard reset again.

  • Update: what fixed it for me was uninstalling it completely ( steam version ofc), restarting the game and deleting shader folder
