Solved

game opens up to black screen then crashes.

So I recently re-downloaded this game to try to start a new save file, however its not booting up, it just opens to a black window then closes. I am playing on steam. Here are the things I did to see if it fixes it:

- uninstall and reinstall

- cleared the shaders folder

- verified installed files

- updated all drivers

- checked firewall settings

- checked BIOS if needed to be updated (it did not)

- installed on different SSD

- I checked about the driver settings about the size of folder for shaders

- my NIVIDIA card is 566.36 as suggested older drives work better.

- nothing has changed since I last played, no antivirus or anything. It has only been 2 months since I uninstalled to make room for another game.

I literally cannot think of ANYTHING else that might be an issue. For computer specs, this is my computer: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/acer-nitro-n50-gaming-pc-black-red-intel-core-i5-14400f-1tb-ssd-16gb-ram-geforce-rtx-4060-win-11/17699723

I have been wanting to try playing it again, as I think I was still in the tutorial/early start when I stopped playing. Please help me.

  • I fixed this and in case anyone else is having similar issues, you need to update the NIVIDIA driver to the one that was released on April 30th 2025. Trial and error was how I worked this out. In order to do this you have to go to the bottom right corner and right click on the NIVIDIA icon next to the time and date (it might be in the arrow drop down). You want to open the app NOT the control panel. On the left side go to drivers, you want to make sure its selected under game ready driver next to the check for updates button (top right, just under the log in button) and then you want to then check for updates.

Please add a DxDiag to your next reply.

A DxDiag is an overview of your PCs technical features and recent software errors.
There is no personal info in it except for the “Machine name” in the second row.
(You might delete the “Machine name” line if you wish too.)

    How to create a DxDiag:

    1. Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Copy and paste or type "DxDiag" (Without the quotes) into the new field. > ENTER
    3. Wait until the green bar is gone > Click on "Save all information"
    4. Save the file to your desktop.
    5. Here at EA Forum > Click Replay > Click the paper clip icon at the bottom of the replay Window.
    6. Navigate to the "DxDiag.txt" on your desktop > select the "DxDiag.txt" > click on "Open".
    7. Reply.
