I killed all the demons and defeated the Revenant Dragon (quite early, while exploring) but Pinnacle of Its Kind is still open in my journal at "Find the demon in Hossberg". When I return to the location the quest circle is on my minimap and my companion still says, "Look, over there," just like they did when we came there the first time and killed the demon. I'm not using any mods or cheats etc.Edit: Sorry, I'm mixing up my dragons - but I did also fight and defeat the High Dragon the Formless One shows up as at the end of the questline, and you can see in my screenshot that the demon is nowhere and the chest has already been looted.

For me I cannot spawn the Dock Town demon because I already killed it earlier I think before this quest. When I reach the spot, there is nothing there.EDIT: Reloaded the game, and brazier can be used to summon demon now. Weird.

I just ran into this exact same issue. Tried reloading an old save, reloading the game, etc. Since now I can't even open the door in the necropolis, this blocks me from both the quest and multiple trophies. Needs to be fixed.

Seconding the door not opening, I am pretty sure I have tried everything, even killing the last again demon in an old save to see if it opens. The last thing I could try is recruiting emmrich from a really old save and getting the quest fresh but honestly cba.

Yes, it's the same for me; killing the Champion finishes the Region Quest 'Gate of Pale Reflections ' but not 'Pinnacle of Its Kind'. Reloading and restarting and doing it again doesn't change anything. This needs to be fixed, especially if other questlines are dependant on that.

ectoninjaBased on the picture you attached; what you killed was actually one of the darkspawn bosses used to unlock the "bramble doors" in the crossroads. The demon you need to kill for "Pinnacle of its kind" is in the same area and can be summoned by interacting with a lit-green-brazier nearby.

That being said, I have also encountered an issue where I have indeed killed all three "formless one" demons and the door to access the hall where the "sealed door" is, is closed and there's no way to access that room.

  Thanks, I'll give that a shot when I get home. The two quests have some overlap and it's a bit confusing - but I'm quite sure I've already fought the High Dragon boss version of the Formless One in addition to the Revenant Dragon in the Crossroads...I'm way too far into the game to reload all the way back before to check that though. But I'll try interacting with the brazier and report back.
  I wish there was a better way to keep track of what you already did - unless I'm missing something, the local maps don't seem to have any names on the areas or the beacons so I'm having a hard time recalling what I've already discovered and killed versus what I only investigated but could not yet complete and I keep having to retread old ground to find out.

Don't worry about accessing the boss and getting through to fight the boss because the boss is bugged also. You goes up to perch where you can only damage it with ranged abilities. He goes down to 65% health and then just stays there and is immune to all damage. I've reloaded up to 40 times and even went back to saves from before I killed any of the three demons leading up to the boss.

  I'm having the exact same issue. I even thought it was immune to lightning damage, so I switched up my build, only to get the sxact same result. The quest is definitely bugged.

    I'm having the same issue too. It's crazy to me that EA hasn't fixed this yet. This seems like something that should have been caught in beta.

Okay I have tested a save before I recruited Emmrich, went through all the steps and before I did anything, got the Restless Spirits quest from Emmrich which opens the door and gives you Pinnacle of Its Kind. I killed all three demons and the door is open.

I am thinking it closes if you do Heart of Corruption quest before Pinnacle of Its Kind as it gives you a "circle", similar to the one you get from Pinnacle quest, which I will be testing now. Will update/edit the post when I do.

Update: I have tested finishing Heart of Corruption and picking up the circle, and the door is still open for Pinnacle of Its Kind. I have no idea what triggers the door being closed.

I have a similar issue. Killed all the seperate forms, now the doors shut and I can't get in to kill the boss.

I also have a problem with this quest. I killed all 3 demons (yes, the quest is now updated to go back to the sealed door) but the door is closed. When I approach it, Rook doesn't say the wisps are needed to unlock it, nothing. There are 4 wisps clustered floating around chests next to the merchant, but not sure whether they are there by design or are they the ones for the door misplaced somehow. They don't follow me at all
