Games Libraries across Mac and Windows should match
I (using Windows app, which is apparently superior in this area) was hoping to play It Takes Two with my long-term partner because we both love games and want to be able to play together even when we're apart. However, he only has a Mac computer (no option to get Windows either, nor should he be forced to because of this), and we have discovered that most of the games available in the Windows EA App are simply not available in the Mac EA App. Which is, frankly, ridiculous!
He tried restarting, reinstalling and refreshing his app and still had only a small fraction of the games I can browse, which - importantly - did not include It Takes Two. Adding to the frustration, I can no longer get a refund for this game that has been rendered completely un-playable, as an exclusively two-player game. As an additional aside, while they are bringing the Mac App up to level with the Windows one, they should adjust the refund policy for those games rendered completely un-playable by their own lapse in judgement, including ALL games that are exclusively two-player that are available on only one version of their PC App.
Hi AlexaOfHadestown ,
Just to clarify something here, as this isn't an issue with the EA app failing to display or sync the same Library between two computers.
Games need to specifically support the operating system they're being played on. The EA app is available on both Windows and macOS, but that doesn't mean every game available through the Windows version also has a macOS version. Each game has its own supported platforms and system requirements.
In the case of It Takes Two, the PC version was released for Windows, and there is currently no macOS version of the game. The supported platforms are PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Because of that, reinstalling or refreshing the EA app on the Mac won't make It Takes Two appear as an installable Mac title. This isn't a case of the Mac app having accidentally removed access to a game that should otherwise run there.
I also want to clarify the refund point. A game not supporting a particular operating system isn't the same as the game being made unplayable by a technical issue on our side. Refund eligibility depends on where and when the game was purchased and whether it meets the applicable refund criteria. (https://help.ea.com/en/articles/orders-and-rewards/refunds/)
I can certainly understand wanting to play together across Windows and Mac, and the feedback around making platform compatibility as clear as possible is fair. However, we don't have any information to share suggesting that a macOS version of It Takes Two is planned.
