I don't use origin or EA app in-game overlay. Sometimes it makes problems with game's performance.In Origin there was an option to invite a friend, without overlay -> minimize game, open Origin window, right click on a friend opens a menu and there's an invite option, also a join game option.Just got a mandatory switch to EA app. Where's the right click menu on friends in the friends list!?Thank god he's still able to use origin, so he can join from this exact menu.It's been years and this is a basic feature, which you already had with Origin.Where is the right click menu on friends - for invite game, join game, etc!!!?

Wanted to play Battlefront 2 with a friend, never had an issue with inviting. Now we both have to use that garbage of an EA launcher, his Battlefront is straight up unplayable with the overlay enabled because of a bug, and I cant invite him without the overlay. So basically I cant play the game with him anymore. Now whats the point of a launcher if you cant even invite someone over it?? EA has to be the most incompetent gaming studio there is. Its so unimaginably frustrating seeing EA screwing up everything they touch.

I found out how you can invite on bf2 without having overlay on so your mouse will work. have the person getting the invite tab out of the game so it is minimized, then send the invite through the bf2 social menu. in the notification bar or pop up(if you have pop ups enabled) of the task bar there will be an invite that will put you in a group.

I wonder why this hasn't been fixed yet. It is the same story for us who plays the older Bioware multiplayers (DAI, and ME3). Since EA App overlay won't work for many of us, it is a pain in the rear to join our friends. Fortunately, some of us has a working overlay, and they are able to invite others, but it is extremely cumbersome. So EA, for the love of God. Please implement the functionality to invite/join players directly in the app, like you could in Origin. It is the easiest fix for many of us.- And no, no matter how much I have tried, the overlay does not work for me in those games, despite it working when I still had Origin.

The launch of EA Desktop has been so frustrating. The ability to play games, and sometimes play them with friends is the only thing I want out of it. I have my overlay turned on, but it doesn't work. The end result is the same - you can't invite friends if the overlay is busted. There is no option to invite a friend to join you from the friends list. Your only option is to launch the same game they are playing... you just can't play with them.

FOUND A SOLUTION! One guy closes the game, and opens ea app, the other sends the invite through the game, then the invite will pop and if you accept it it will launch the game without the overlay and you will be in a squad.

IF YOU WANT TO INV FRIENDS. Discord settings/Registered games/ toggle detection, overlay off. You can turn on EA over dog * lay. For me and my sis this is the only way it worked

I would like to invite friends to games for ME3. You can only invite them if you are in a game lobby using the invite button in the game. Invite-to-game while playing a game used to work in Origin, but that feature is not in the EA app. So the only option now is to invite-to-lobby using the invite button in the game.
It's the norm today. Agile teams deliver the minimum viable product, which has bugs and lacks useful/previous features. And they never come back later to fix the bugs or add the features.
So the EA app is useless. I'm not going to use it for text chat while playing games; I would use voice chat instead. I stopped adding friends. I just play with whatever random players come along.
