Battlefield 2042 will not launch with EA Play on Steam

I own EA Play on steam. When I launch Battlefield 2042 it I see this:

EA support told me to contact Steam support and Steam support told me to contact EA support. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

@sprangsunt, could you try to download Apex Legends via Steam and open that to see if it works? If that works, check again if BF2042 works as intended.

I already did. It didn't work.
