Cannot invite friend on It Takes Two EA Desktop

Summarize your bug When attempting to create an online game with a friend in "It Takes Two" the button to invite does nothing. Both of us have installed the game through EA Desktop using Xbox GamePass for PC. There are many users with this issue on the EA desktop app (https://www.reddit.com/r/ItTakesTwo/comments/qq3fsm/i_cant_invite_friends_to_it_takes_two_from_ea/). It has been noted this may be something to do with the EA overlay - however, this is turned on for both me and my friend. Basically we are unable to play this game through the EA desktop app at all currently.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Download It Takes Two Launch the game Choose "Online Play" Attempt to invite a friend
What happens when the bug occurs? You cannot play the game alone, it is a co-op game, so with the invite friend overlay not working in this version of the game, it is unplayable.
What do you expect to see? An overlay to invite a friend so that the game can be played online.

It Takes Two is currently unplayable when downloaded in the EA Desktop app through Xbox Game Pass for PC due to the "invite friend" option on online mode not doing anything when pressed.

HI @EA_Jason, sorry it took so long for me to try your resolution steps. I have got around to this today.
Changing the overlay or starting EA Desktop as admin did not change anything, however performing a clean boot (turning off all services and startups) did fix the issue.
So I extensively tested each service and start up app one by one and can confirm this issue was due to one service: "Nahimic service".
I mean, I'm not shocked, as this is well memed to be basically malware, but comes packaged with pretty much all Asus sound driver software which cannot be removed if you want to use their drivers. As another user pointed out in this thread "Rivatuner" is also known to cause this issue, but in my case I do not have Rivatuner as a service.
So for everyone in this thread, the steps to resolution are as follows:
Type msconfig in your windows search press enter
Go to services tab
Check the box to "Hide all Microsoft Services" (this just makes it easier to find the services we want to stop)
Look for "Nahimic Service" and/or "Rivatuner" and uncheck those boxes
Click "OK" and confirm a restart in the pop up window
Once restarted, load EA Desktop app normally and load "It Takes Two"
You will now get the overlay in Online mode when pressing invite a friend (you'll know it's working on start up of the game as you get the "Shift + f1" pop out which never appears when broken)
Play and enjoy your game.
Optional - turn back on services you disabled if you ever need to use either Nahimic or Rivatuner, or if you get system issues.
Guess it would be great if this could be patched so people don't have to stop services at all, but this issue is just as much on Nahimic as EA in the way whatever their software does in the background conflicts.

Thank you for the link and the detailed explanation. Judging by the Reddit post, there are some folks that are having issues with launching the overlay for the EA app.

We can try a few things to fix this:

Go to Settings > Application and make sure that the overlay is enabled.

Launch the EA app as an administrator.

Perform a Clean Boot of Windows and only launch the EA app and It Takes Two. We do this to rule out any other apps interfering with the EA app/overlay.

Could you give it a go and let me know if it changes anything?

Go to Settings > Already made.
Launch EA app as an admin > Already made.
Perform a Clean Boot, is a little broing, but with this tips i test to kill all the apps like Razer, GeForce Experience, Steam, Rivatuner, AIda64 ... And with all of this apps killed i see the message Shift + F1 when i'll launch the game ! So with that i try to launch one app by one to find who is the guilty...
And it was Rivatuner !
With your help i can play this with my friend !

Glad it worked for you. For me, not even this worked. I can only play locally. I have a friend waiting to play online with me but I guess it's not happening. I've been trying everything imaginable and it will never show my friends list.

Doesnt work for me, tried a complete clean boot and i still get no overlay, none of the above mentioned services are running... they really need to fix this. until they do my Subscription is cancelled.

Ive been having issues with this for the past day and I did something that worked out for me.
By doing the basic steps written before -> accessing msconfig -> services -> in my case, i had Nahimic Service, and no Rivatuner, but mine was already disabled, so i TURNED ON and ticked the box and restarted my computer -> EA doesnt open when you do this, so i did the following:
accessing task manager -> services -> look for EABackground Services -> right click and find -> open services -> look for EABackground Services again (im sure this step is skippable but im no wizard to find out how to do this) -> right click and press Properties -> look in General for Type of Initilization or Type of Startup (look for the one that has a pop up tab) -> select Automatic -> apply -> try opening EA again after this, it should work
IF it doesnt work, try doing the same steps as before, accessing msconfig and going to services, but this time TURNING OFF Nahimic or Rivatuner services. Restart your PC again and it should work!
This is the only thing that worked for me after reinstalling and trying to repair broken files on EA, so i hope this helps
Do note that my computer is in a different language than english, so some configurations will probably be writter differently than I wrote, but im sure you can find them regardless.
