Do you guys got any other anticheat installed (for APEX as example ?),
some needed to delete / uninstall that or other easy anticheat (EOS_easyanticheat).
Also make sure windows is not launch / booting any gameplatform during Windows boot !!!
Make sure you only launch / run the gameplatform you did buy BF2042 at.
Right click the shortcut from the gameplatform and select to run as an administrator!
Test game, still issues follow steps below.
Delete EAC manualy:
Press the Windows key + 'E' to open File Explorer.
Press ALT key, select Tools > Folder Options > View, then check Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
Navigate to the following location C:\\Program Files(x86)\EasyAntiCheat\ and delete the files:
Delete this file C:\\Program Files(x86)\EasyAntiCheat\EasyAntiCheat.sys
Delete this file C:\\Program Files(x86)\EasyAntiCheat\EasyAntiCheat.exe
Navigate to C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming
Delete the folder EasyAntiCheat
Navigate to C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Temp ,and delete ALL content.
Now reinstall EAC:
Right click the BF2042 shortcut at youre desktop and select OPEN FILE LOCATION.
in the installation folder of BF2042 is an EASYANTICHEAT folder, open it.
In this folder you find a file named as EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe
Rightclick at it and select to run this file as an administrator ! and install/repair EAC
Also lets check windows Health:
SFC - Windows Health Check
Press Windows key + 'R' ,typ CMD
Press and hold down CTRL + SHIFT and press ENTER.
When User Account Control shows up, click Yes.
Use the following command lines, pressing Enter after each
(make sure you wait till each of the commands is executed properly):
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Reboot your system and test game.
If game still doesnt start try a cleanboot.
A cleanboot could solve also many issues:
Cleanboot / Msconfig
Reboot pc by a clean boot:

Hide all Microsoft services, DISABLE (uncheck) ALL other processes, apps and services !
Cleanboot is just a one time clean boot ! Next reboot all will be reset and a normal boot will be occure.
Use msconfig to disable apps permanent each for new reboot.
DISABLE ALL other processes, apps and services from booting with windows, check instructions below:
Use the keyboard shortcut “Windows Key + R” and the “Run” window will open.
In the text box, typ MSCONFIG and press Enter or OK and the MsConfig window will open".
Select the tab STARTUP (select OPEN TASK MANAGER), and disable apps/programs by right click at them!
Those disabled apps will no longer boot with Windows , till ya set them enabled again !
If there is still an error / issue please make a screenshot/movie from it and post it here.
Cheers
Hello, thank you for your detailed response @Rokebo73 . I have completed the above steps, aside from a clean boot. When launching the game from Steam I get an EA login window that quickly disappears. The EasyAntiCheat window no longer appears (I believe this is the small window that loads with the BF2042 Season 3 Escalation art). My issue started yesterday as well. I attempted to open the game and after EA login briefly appears, nothing else seems to occur. I was surprised it took me this long to locate someone with a similar issue. I was sure it was a problem on EA side, but who knows. Hopefully others will continue to locate this thread and we will resolve the issue together soon.

Thank you @Rokebo73. I did all that you have mentioned, including the clean boot step, still nothing I'm afraid. I have the same results as what @AGN0STlC has mentioned. I really wish this will be escalated to the development team soon because I have not been able to play since Dec. 31, 2022. It was working on the morning of but it suddenly stopped working during the night. I have not made any changes during that time period. The only significant change was that I updated my GPU driver on Dec. 24th and the game worked fine. Also, Dec. 31 was the day there was an issue with the EA App servers. My friends who play on PS5 experienced server connection issues. Anyway, I hope this gets fixed soon.

So if i understand you both coreectly ,
you start gameplatform , EA app or Origin or Steam as an admin ? (did not boot with windows?)
Then you select BF2042 in this gameplatform ? Game boots up and you see nothing or only just 1 small windows and it disappears again ?
Then nothing happens after this window is closed ?am i correct? could you make a short movie from your login and what happens after ya select bf2042 to start please !

@Rokebo73 Correct, Steam and EA App both have disabled auto-start during Windows boot. I have to manually start Steam (already assigned to run as admin) and try to run BF2042 from there. I have included a small video clip link uploaded to Google Drive as per your request. Not sure if it will help much but there you go. Please note that Steam was ran as an admin. Also, I used Game Capture to get this clip. I am not sure what software to use to screen capture in Windows to capture desktop motion. As you can see, nothing happens after I click PLAY. EA App pops in for a split second then disappears. This behavior was similar when Origin was still installed (which I have also reinstalled but same issue). Then afterward, the application just stops and does not run. Even EAC does not pop up.

For a timeline context, the game worked fine before Dec. 31, 2022. I was even able to play the game the morning of the day (around 10 am PST). Then when I tried it again around 6 pm PST, this scenario has been the same since. No major changes was made between those 8 hrs. The only major update was on Dec. 21 when I updated my GPU drivers and the game worked fine up until Dec. 31, 2022 at around 6 pm PST.

@ELxSIGINT @Rokebo73 I planned to make a recording also, but the recording from ELxSIGINT is virtually identical to my scenario, except for the fact that I see the EA login window for 1 second after launch, then nothing.

hmmm weird indeed, lets do some other steps !
move the BF2042 folder in youre Documents to youre desktop (dont delete , just move - *cut and paste*)
Now bootup game platform as admin and launch game, tell me what ya see happen.ps could you both post a DXDIAG please !
Cheers

I did exactly what you mentioned. Ran the executable as admin inside the game folder moved/pasted to my desktop. EA App popped up then stayed open but the game disappeared from my EA Library (expected since the game was purchased or handled by Steam). Got a pop up from EA App that the game did not exist or was moved. I have included my DxDiag as well.

@ELxSIGINT thats ok, only launch steam as admin !
DO NOT START ANY OTHER GAMEPLATFORM !
If ya did buy bf2042 by steam , then opnly run steam as admin and start BF2042 in steam !ps i see 3 or more monitors connected ?
shutdown pc, and disconnect all monitors and test with only 1 monitor please, just to test , to check if graphics driver is making any issues some how !
Also for test make sure you only got 1 jeyboard , 1 mouse and 1 headset connected ,
disconnect any other hardware !
As soon game is is starting up and running , you could test hardwareby connecting 1 again and test game , repeat steps till ya found the issue ,
just to check if any hardware cause an issue !
update us! - 3 years ago
@Rokebo73 Same issue, no start. I shut down the PC, unplugged 2 monitors and left my main one on. Made sure nothing else was plugged aside from essentials (keyboard, mouse, headset. Then plugged in my second monitor, then 3rd. all made no difference. I used to think this was caused by corrupted files but I verified it with Steam's options and have reinstalled it multiple times already.

Hi @Rokebo73 . I moved the folder and it has no impact on false start. Attached is diagnostic.

@Rokebo73 I've been thinking. Is there a step by step method to completely uninstall any and all traces of BF2042 from my system? I don't mean a simple uninstall. Because I find it weird that only this specific game does not seem to work even doing a fresh reinstall. And verification is not doing anything either. It could be a GPU driver incompatibility but I don't have the skillset to dive down deep into code to find anything. I only mentioned GPU driver since it was the last major update I did before the game went broken.
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@ELxSIGINT yes with REVOUNINSTALLER.
Ill use the portable version, if ya start revouninstaller, ya need to start it as an admin.
then click the software/program ya want to uninstall (make sure ADVANCED is checked as soon ya clicked to uninstall, it will scan for registry key and file/folders).
Click the SCAN button to scan for any leftovers and delete them.
After uninstall ya need to reboot system.
Fot gpu driver uninstall, ya need to pre download ddu and gpu driver first.
Now disconnect PC from internet !!!!!
Then in settings / apps ya uninstall gpu driver.
Then bootup windows in safemode (with NO network)
Then run the program DDU (pre download also) and uninstall/delete any GPU drivers leftover.
After uninstall reboot system (make sure there is no internet connection available) and install new GPU driver!
Why boot without network -->> else windows Update will download and install a gpu driver <--- and we dont want that 😉

I have the same issue and my own thread open.
- 3 years ago@ZAYZ007 I have tried all mentioned solutions without any luck. Very odd that EA is not more(at all) involved in pursuing a solution for this issue.
Cancelling my EA subscription and giving up on this game. Appreciate the help and advice guys
