Cant send game invites

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) 85e62e55-d8d7-4ca6-9805-979b1d9ac02e
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Other (Please Describe)
Please describe I have no friends list overlay. I dont see an option to invite friends.
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 02.20.2023 (every day)
Summarize your bug I cannot pull up the friends list/overlay. The overlay is switched on. I turned it off then on again. Without this I cannot play with my friends. So frustrating.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I dont know if it affects anyone else? My overlay isnt coming up.
What happens when the bug occurs? Nothing. There is no friends list, so I cannot invite my friends to join my lobby.
What do you expect to see? The friends list. With an option to invite them.

In ME3 the Invite Friends button just makes a blip sound and does not work. The ingame overlay does not pop up. Somebody else has to invite me, but my friends are having problems with the EA Desktop not letting them launch games at all.

  • The answer was in another thread  ...which said the answer they found was in yet another thread.

The nahimic service was present on my PC, and when I disabled it, the EA Desktop in-game overlay worked correctly.

I feel like we are playing whack-a-mole with EA App issues

Edit 2023-03-24: Hopefully a final note on this. My audio was severely messed up by disabling the nahimic service after rebooting.  The audio stopped working for ME3 and other things.

I wound up going to ASUS (my motherboard manufacturer) and downloading the oldest version of the RealTek audio drivers they had (from 2019). I installed that, and the older version of the RealTek drivers and nahimic service play very well with the EA Desktop overlay.

     Another mole, whacked.

  • I have to bump this, because EA only points us to the forums now for EA App help, and there hasn't been a response.
