I just did this and it's not working at all. Every time I try to install it again, it says it's already installed. I dumped temp files, looked for anything associated to EA on my pc, and from what I found it didn't work.Used control panel, and Revo, used CCleaner, nothing. It still says it's installed. This is aggravating, and EA support has been completely unhelpful.

UPDATE - Work around:After opening C:\Program Files\, I manually deleted the Electronic Arts folder (only the EA Desktop folder was in it). I had to also manually close EA Desktop background services from Task Manager to allow the folder to delete. Once removed, I was able to re-run the Add/Remove Programs uninstaller for EA Desktop, which now completed successfully and removed itself from the list of installed programs.

Goodluck getting a reply from the helpdesk people here pfff. You can't uninstall games, you can't uninstall the app cause the noobs at EA "forgot" to program that in even though it's a very basic feature when you make computer software.So far there has been one response on how to uninstall games, and that one only said to go to the windows remove app section. Yeah really great when the game/application isn't showing in there. I mean how do you even screw that one up? They never replied when I told them it doesn't show there either. They are very very silent about not being able to uninstall.This helpdesk is very unhelpful and they ignore a BIG problem and the huge issue that they developed PC software and didn't include a uninstaller, one of the most basic things you need to have present.

no I'm not talking about uninstalling games I'm talking about ea desktop itself it doesn't show up in my uninstall programs list so I can't even uninstall it and I'm trying to uninstall it because I downloaded it from the xbox desktop app so I can play ea play games because I have xbox game pass but it keeps saying to link accounts but I can't because it won't let me so Im trying to reinstall ea desktop from the xbox desktop app but I can't even uninstall ea desktop app

I’m having this same issue. I installed EA DESKTOP, and I was receiving error messages. So I uninstalled EA DESKTOP with the intention of reinstalling it. After uninstalling when I try to reinstall I get an error saying EA DESKTOP is already installed. When I click launch it opens my System 32 folder. I’ve even deleted all registry entries pertaining to EA DESKTOP, and same issue.Is there a fix for this or just use Origin for now?

@PyroDrake1134 thank god i saw this!!! I have been trying to uninstall the damn app due to a 500 error. said something mysterious was happening preventing me from playing games only. Waited for days. cleared cache, app repair and even tried to believe ea reps advice it was a network issue. last option I found was to deleta app. Saw this thread, saw your post, and it was because the background service was running. THANK YOU!!! I love you man!!! Think i will stick with Origin for a while.

@puzzlezaddict This Sort of worked for me so I appreciate your post, I was having this issue with wildhearts 3/15/2023, My issue specifically was that Wildhearts would not launch the EA app was giving me error 500 when I tried to open it.

Fix I did - ran revo uninstaller free edition, the EA uninstaller failed so I closed the EA app, I proceeded to still scan with revo and delete anything that came up. I attempted to reinstall EA and the installer said that I already had it installed but gave me the option to repair the EA app. I repaired the app and relogged in, my issue was fixed.

@Branthir Thank you! this worked for me too. I wasn't able to uninstall from the app or from add/remove programs, but ending the "EA Background Service" in task manager let me uninstall in about 30 seconds.

It worked when I:
1)logged out of my ea account from the app
2) closed the application
2)went to settings on the laptop
3)apps-> installed apps
4) clicked the three dots -> uninstall
I hope that helps 🙂

One solution is to end the EA Background services through the task manager.
In Windows 11:
1. Right click the start button.
2. Select Task Manager
3. In the Task Manager Window search, "EA"
4. End Task for EA Background Services.
5. Attempt to Uninstall the EA app once again.
Done.

It won’t allow me to manually override it. It says folder or file unit is open. I’ve deleted everything and scoured for any thing ea and this is all that left. Any way to fix that? Thanks

@PyroDrake1134 This worked perfectly for me (windows 10). The EA app was refusing to uninstall normally since you can't uninstall an app while it is running, and EA is always running in the background. It keeps running in the background even if you close the window. You have to use the task manager to force the app to stop running in the background. This was really damn annoying - the stupid app runs and slows down your computer so much and you can't even uninstall the damn thing. EA has a special knack for testing my patience.
