DisplayName Missing from Registry Error

I’m having trouble activating Titanfall 2 on the EA app after purchasing it through Steam. Whenever I try to launch the game, I receive the error message:

"We could not activate Titanfall 2. DisplayName missing from registry on this computer using the EA account you provided. Please locate your product key to activate the game using your EA account."

Steps I’ve Already Taken:

  1. Cleared EA App Cache: Followed the instructions for clearing the EA app’s cache (App Recovery).
  2. Checked License Folder: I navigated to C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License and C:\Users<Username>\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License but found these folders to be empty (even with hidden files visible).
  3. Reinstalled EA App: I uninstalled and reinstalled the EA app, then logged in again, but the issue persists.
  4. Reinstalled Titanfall 2: I uninstalled and reinstalled Titanfall 2 from Steam, but still, the game will not launch.
  5. Checked for Antivirus/Firewall Issues: I made sure that neither my antivirus (McAfee) nor firewall was blocking the EA app or the game.

Additional Info:

  • I’ve also checked my EA account, and everything seems to be in order.
  • The issue might be related to a previous email address that I used for my EA account, as I recently changed it. It seems that my old email is still associated with my account, even though it is no longer active.

Could anyone help me figure out what might be causing this problem? Is there any additional troubleshooting I can try, or is this likely a server-side issue? I’m really eager to get Titanfall 2 working again and would appreciate any advice or solutions.

Thank you!

  • It looks like the issue could be related to your EA account email change. Make sure your email is updated in your EA account and try re-linking Steam. You can also manually enter the product key from Steam. If the problem continues, EA Support might need to fix it on their end.

    Unfortunately I cant relink steam for another while as Ive done it recently. In my EA account the email is said to be my current email so I dont understand the problem there. Lastly is there a method to get the product key from steam?? I couldnt find it. As for the support page they have done very little to help and simply told me to update my drivers. Thanks anyway

    @BOSSBOMBER007 Could you reproduce the issue and launch EA app and submit an error report (top left menu) and share the ID here?

    @BOSSBOMBER007 Thanks for sharing that.

    The log files include this which is causing the problem. I have passed this along to the developers to review.
