EA app disappearing when asking to restart
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? Français
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? latest
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? The bug hit before the game is launched. So, the presence or absence of any DLC should not have any effect. The presence of CC and mods is also irrelevant.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? The last 3 times the AE app got updated and need to get restarted. If you click the «Restart» button, the game SEEMS to start, but get stuck at the load screen. You need to use the Task Manager to kill the game. CAN be avoided by NOT restarting the EA App and choosing to restart later.
What happens when the bug occurs? When you try to launch the game again, it complains that Origin can't be found... On a PC. ALL the shortcuts to the EA app now point to non-existing files. Even the EA App folder is gone. You need to reinstall the EA App from scratch.
What do you expect to see? The EA App to gracefully restart, THEN launch The Sims4.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No
The EA App is removing itself when updating. As the App update, it'll ask for a restart the next time you start The Sims4.
If you click the «Restart» button, the load screen appears, but, the game won't go any further and you need to use the task manager to kill the game.
After that, when you try to start The Sims4 again, it complains that Origin is missing and won't even show the load screen.
You then need to reinstall the EA App from scratch.
HI @Kualinar Thanks for the Update!
I'd recommend uninstalling the EA app, and clearing any remaining file (if any are left) from the install location and trach bin.
After, check for updates to the system:
- Run the System File Checker tool then Check for Windows and GPU updates
Then restart your device in a clean boot and run the EA App as admin.
- Restart your device in Clean Boot mode, then just try running the client and game
Once done, check if you can sign in normally. If so, restart your device normally and confirm if you get the same error or if the install files are missing at all.
Cheers!
