EA App doesn't launch

Trying to play Sims 4 but EA App isn't working... when I launch it the main window is blank. Selecting Menu bar -> "EA App" -> Settings... doesn't do anything, and if I Quit (cmd-Q) then it hangs and I have to force-quit it. What diagnostic info is needed? Running macOS Sonoma 14.4 on an 16-inch M1 MacBook Pro.
