EA App downloads are incredibly slow

I have pretty decent internet speeds. Yet it seems to take a weirdly slow time to download updates via the EA app. A 3GB update should not take 10 mins to download. I know it is a first world problem but I'd like to know if there's an underlying issue here. There is no download limit set.
