SOLUTION FOR EA DESKTOP LOGGING USERS OUT UPON CLOSING THE APP
This is a follow up on the erroneously closed long running topic that has been here for years where various community managers and customer support agents at EA and other companies completely failed to even adress the issue or solve it.
Bug: EA Desktop upon closing logs the user out forcing them to re enter their credentials over and over. (Win 10/11)
The solution is extremely simple
- Open add or remove programs.
- Locate and uninstall the EA Desktop app.
- In the Unistaller that opens there is a option to REPAIR.
After using this function the app resumes normal use and stays logged in.
I've tested this on 2 different computers that had the bug with a 100% success rate.
Hire me EA

@ManbreakfastableHoly cow, it worked!!!
What's even better it also somehow fixed the issue where the app was treated like a game so it was using NVIDIA overlay including the mic at all times the app is open or/and in the background!!!
LEGEND!EDIT:
I fired up the app the next day and it was logged out again, lol. So, no, unfortunately it didn't fix it for me.

Thanks. Give this person a job EA!

Your "fix" won't work on the new EA app that replaced Origin since the EA app does not give an option to "repair" the installation. Just modify which is greyed out and uninstall. Nothing else. I never had this problem on Origin. But my wife and I both started having this problem the day the EA app was installed (without our permission) on our PCs by EA. As bad as Origin was, it was better than this POS.

@DuckDodgers58I understand that you are frustrated but please follow my instructions before posting.
You did not complete step 2. Uninstall.
The repair function is in the uninstaller, not add or remove programs itself. Try again and let me know if it worked.
For the record I liked origin too, it had some features that Desktop hasnt added back in like opening recent games from the minimised hidden icon in the task bar. It also has caused mass deauthentifcation of purchased games that cant be run because their programs require the discontinued origin or origin thin client to get through authentification, or something inane like that.
There are plenty of games affected. I cant play Anthem anymore! Some people might think thats funny but Im pissed. I bought that on release full price.
If that issue isn't priority one to fix at EA right now they're bonkers. Undermines the entire idea of being a publisher/distributor when your library is expiring like bad fruit due to poor housing conditions.- 2 years ago
This did not work for me, unfortunately.
The app is going to need to be updated to get a fix.
This is just as annoying as the Downloads bug from a few months ago. A fix for that eventually came, after many weeks of waiting.
I expect a similar situation here.

Your assumption that I did not do option 2 is incorrect. I have removed and reinstalled this "app" multiple times. There has NEVER been a "repair" option. EVER. I'm not a child. Don't assume I can't follow instructions. I have been telling computers what to do for over 40 years. I KNOW how to follow instructions as well as follow them. I even removed and reinstalled it twice to be sure no repair option was given. It wasn't.
I don't know what you're installing. But I seem not to be installing the same program.
I just wish a cash rich company like EA would get their act together and actually FIX bugs when they are reported by a LOT of people. No, it's not preventing people from playing their games. But I can tell you they are losing a LOT of money on lost sales because of their decision to ignore something that aggravates potential customers. But customer satisfaction isn't even taught in business schools anymore like it was when I went to Wharton school back in the 80s. Contrary to what is being taught today. There is not an endless supply of new customers they haven't screwed over yet. But then most professors in business schools today have never had a real job running a real company. Their ideas are completely untested and unworkable.

I understand you're pissed, chief, but there very much is a "Repair" option when you uninstall the EA app through the Control Panel.
Go to "Change or Uninstall Programs", find the EA App by sorting alphabetically, highlight it, click "Uninstall". The "repair" option will be on the right on the first window you see.
It doesn't matter, anyway, as it doesn't fix the problem.
Thank Christ I finished (the awful) Mass Effect Andromeda a few weeks ago, as I can confirm that this issue is still (!) a problem almost 3 months later. I no longer am playing an EA Game, but just decided to click on the app itself to install an update. Zero change. The credentials do not stick.
Getting into disaster territory here. Friendly reminder that the old Origin launcher worked just fine, and even had a "thin" component that wouldn't launch the full Origin app whenever an EA game was launched from Steam. Somehow, this is so much worse.
- 2 years ago@DuckDodgers58 Just do it like said in the guide, PRESS THE UNINSTALL. After that you get the repair option!

Thanks I will give this a try, it has pretty much been a problem since it was installed, but willing to try anything atm.

Unfortunately this does not work either. All suggestions get a few days reprieve from entering credentials, before the App chooses to forget what you have asked it to remember. I hope EA is not investing in AI.
- KeeferTech2 years agoRising Rookie@DeltaCorvi You got that right! It is ridiculous that a company like @EA can't fix its own app and make it work as intended. Whenever I start my PC and the app opens, it wants my login info. Yes, I click remember, but it does not. I have looked back through the forums, and this problem has existed for years! I guess @EA doesn't want our money and to make their paying customers happy!

This issue seems to have gone in version 13.58.0. Are people still getting logged out out unexpectedly?

Not sure if someone mentioned it -
I tried today ( just 5 mins before I wrote this message ) - download a latest version of (new) EA installer app from official website.
When EA app is installed - it will show - launch or repair
I hit repair, it did the repair, downloaded something.
Let's see if this helped.
