EA App invite by computer or by account?

Hi,

I switch between 2 computers, a M2 MacBook Air and a M1 Pro MacBook Pro.

Recently when starting up Origin on the Air, I was invited to switch over to the EA App, which I did and successfully replaced Origin with EA App - this was more than a week ago.

The MacBook Pro still runs Origin and has not been invited to change over to EA App whenever I start Origin or sign out/sign in. So just wanted to check is this EA App invitation system by account or by computer?

Thanks.

  • I opened Origin on my MacBook Pro and was given the link/invite to finally move to the EA app (expecting more reliability). I installed all of my expansions and packs/kits/etc. It wouldn't open.  So I did what I always do and launched from the Sims app icon (plumbob) in Launchpad after closing the launching app (no longer Origin, now EA). I did not have time to play, but it DID open. Closed it all out.  This device is at work now, and I am at home.  I expected the same from my NEWER desktop Mac when I got home.  NOPE. I have restarted, logged out, refreshed, updated, repaired.. no invite from Origin.. I can launch my game.. Oh.. and EVERY SINGLE LOT IS EMPTY. there are caution triangle with an '!' symbol above every single lot in every world, and I cannot even SEE the destination worlds.. basically says no vacation lots available... I was in "travel," and after an hour of trying to troubleshoot, I was done. It may show up in "vacation," but maybe not..?

So, are you still PILOTING the EA app....? Because I NEVER would have downloaded it on a computer I hardly ever play on had I known.. and now my entire game is nonfunctional, and everything I built is gone... not. okay.  I DO have mods installed, but I was promised that nothing would change.  Actually, every single damn mod is still functional and intact, no issues. Mac/Origin never even almost launches sims 4 if mods are corrupt/out of place, in my experience.. I can't get any answers on forums because most people are just saying their EA app isn't working.. well.. mine launches.. but when I launch in origin on my primary PC, it is basically empty outside of the sims themselves.  All lots are blank.

Both the M1 MBP and the M2 Air are running the same MacOS version - macOS Sonoma 14.4.1

  • Hello there,

I would like to acknowledge the fact also that my origin app has migrated to the new Ea app for Mac.  I’ve notice that My MacBook Pro auto prompt me  to update and migrate orgin to the Ea app and on my MacBook Air it has not.

  • I ended up just copying the EA App from my MacBook Air to my MacBook Pro and seems to work. Not sure if will cause any problems (apart from Origin still being installed as well as EA App on the MacBook Pro) but still so far ok.
