ea app won't install sims 4 - 'no internet connection' error

hiya :)

i have been trying to install the sims 4 from the ea app onto my 2022 MacBook air but keep getting a 'no internet connection' error. ive tried multiple different wifi networks and personal hotspots to no success, as well as clearing the app cache, turning off antiviruses, and making sure my mac is fully updated. i got in contact with a (very lovely) ea tech support person who had me try more possible fixes, also with no success. they suggested i make a forum post about this so that other players with the same issue can comment on this thread, so they can then further investigate it. if anyone has any suggestions or just has the same issue let me know :)

(please dear god ea fix this i just want to play my silly little sims game)
