EA app won't launch The Sims 4

I noticed that my EA app needed to restart for an update, so I did that. Now, when I try to launch The Sims 4, it says that the game is launching, but then quits unexpectedly. The pop-up that says “Preparing Game” appears, and the play button is grayed out. However, after about a minute, the play button turns blue again, wanting me to click it again. I can't even get to the Sims 4 home screen because it won't load. I have tried restarting my computer twice, uninstalling both the EA app and The Sims 4, and also repairing the game completely. I’m not sure if the issue is because of The Sims 4 or the EA app, but I'm not sure what more I can do.

  • shutupomg  Does your computer run Windows or macOS?  I can move your post to the corresponding Sims 4 tech forum.

In the interim, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.
