EA APP

How do you actually update the app? How do you uninstall the app in order to re-install it?  I ask because for the past couple of days since I logged into Sims 4  and got  the Update your game  pop up I have been trying to update your APP. While I have your app because it seem I have to in order to play Sims 4 Have followed instructions and fixed the app as there is nothing that says update but I still got the message. So I tried to uninstall so I could reinstall but cannot uninstall because it says the app has to be closed but it wasn't open one the uninstall pop up window which should have been for confirming my uninstall request but showed as EA so unable to uninstall. So just what is supposed to be done. 

I do not use EA for any of my EA games. I use Steam for my games I have purchased through them . My SWTOR I log in through Desktop. I know when I logged into Sims4 the EA app always open but I have never used it to log in. It is strange to me that using the  uninstall just simply shows it as EA so there is no way to finish the process. I hope I get a reply from EA because I have yet to get a reply from them.
